So many trailer manufacturers to choose from...

I have a Bigtex dump trailer and a custom built trailer. if you choose a custom built trailer inspect it top and bottom, I am not impressed with the workmanship on my custom built trailer I should have looked a lot closer than I did but I did learn something and enjoyed modifying it and making it my own. the Bigtex dump I have had no problem with at all, the only thing I have modified on it is adding a fork lift holder. great trailer and well built. both of these trailers are 14k trailers. I would say go no less than 20ft and 14k.

I'll throw my hat in the ring for PJ's as well.

I have owned at least a dozen trailers over the past ten years. I have had all the major brands and some lesser known ones. PJ and Load Trail have been my favorites.

I have a 20' PJ equipment hauler, a 16' LoadTrail dump trailer, and i recently purchased a 25' PJ Gooseneck deckover. I compared this latest PJ to LoadTrail and BigTex, and ultimately went with PJ again. I think they offer a great value and quality construction. Next to the BigTex, the PJ was clearly the winner. I think I'm on my 3rd or 4th year now with the 20' PJ equipment hauler, and it's held up really well.

LoadTrail are good trailers also, but i keep coming back to PJ...

Never had an issue with either one of my Big Tex trailers.

Me either. I have a Big Tex 10-ET. It is a very nice trailer in just about every way. I transport a L series Kubota with a loader some implements on this trailer. It handles the S.C. roads real well and S.C. roads are pretty terrible.

I have owned at least four Big Tex trailers. Nothing really wrong with them, I just think the PJ & Load Trail are a little better made.

I think nearly any kind of thread where people ask for which brand is best most people will respond with whatever brand they own. Nothing really wrong with that and I have a tendency to do the same but does that mean X brand is great because the poster tried all brands and settled on that one for being the best or was brand x the only brand they ever owned and it served their needs good enough so they recommend it? My brother in law will tell you a mustang is the best care ever made. Maybe it is maybe it isn't but how can he really know that is all he has ever owned since he was in high school.

I am certainly not saying I am the trailer expert because I am not but I thought every trailer I ever bought was the greatest when I bought it but now after having owned many I can definitely look back at them and determine which were better.

Throw me into the PJ pile. I've had my 20'er for 10 years. Not a spec of trouble. And yeah, the plastic coating still looks like brand new.

I have a Sure Trac three side board 16ft trailer. I haul my BX2230 with room to spare for balancing. This is its second winter and the powder coat looks like crap. I snow blow after storms in N MI, and the paint shows it. Edges of metal like the channels around the lights is peeling off. The 2" vertical metal pieces are peeling. Now these verticals are receiving the brunt of the crap off my truck tires with mud flaps. Wished I would have a painted trailer, not coated. I have been told to repaint it, takes considerable time blasting the coating off, prior to painting. Jon

You are playing my tune!
I am a total NON-BELIEVER in powder coating of trailers!
I have a 20' powder coated 14,000 lb. GVWR equipment trailer built in 2015.
The brittle powder coating is chipping off in many areas.

I have used two part epoxy paint on several other items, and find it to be superior to powder coating.
Epoxy is not as brittle as powder coating, and is easily touched up when damaged.
Wish I could have bought every implement, as well as my trailer, unpainted.
I would MUCH prefer to paint my own new equipment,....... with two coats of epoxy.
