Everywhere I look I see electric cars... the parking lot at work has two Teslas, a couple of Leafs and many Prius plus hybrids from Toyota and Honda...

Guess the SF Bay Area is ground zero for electrics.

Not only do owners get free charging stations and preferential parking... they also get to use the Car Pool Lane with a single occupant...

For now.

No such thing as free charging. Who is paying for your car, and charging? You are welcome, you are on car welfare at your neighbors expense. HS

If I'm not paying for it... it's free to me... (I don't have any electrics)

The best way to explain is the Bay Area the mecca for "Green" and leave it at that.

In reality, almost all the owners I know confess a big part is being able to use car pool lanes/bridge tolls with single occupancy... a huge bonus if you need to get around during drive time.

Several have home and office solar... they made the investment and availed themselves of all the tax credits and incentives...

One of the ortho docs brags he hasn't paid an electric bill in years and gets to write off the solar install he did at his medical office building and no longer needs to buy gas and get a tax deduction to boot... on the car, electricity and discount bridge fare because he embraced GREEN

All that for a hoax, at someone else's expense and hard earned money. Are any of you in the Bay Area the least bit embarrassed? Bay Area mecca for; green or duped. HS

I've never bought into the commercialization of GREEN

That said, my dairy farm Grandparents taught Green as a way of life... they never had trash to throw out... didn't even own a can opener... Grandma bought in bulk and cooked on her immaculate wedgewood wood stove.

Even today... my weekly trash in it's entirety will easily fit into one under sink waste basket...

There is big money in jumping on the commercial Green bandwagon.

Thank goodness they commercialized cars. Otherwise i'd probably not be able to afford one.

My thoughts are similar. The way our system works, if things are not commercialized, the motivations behind them are lost. Commercialization is the driver.

I understand there is a difference between real green and marketing green.

The best thing that ever happened to cars is the Red Green Show
