So why the rear finish mower...

I have used both. I used a BX for 9 years-that had the excellent MMM, and was my mowing machine. I bought a ZTR 3 years ago, and that is now my primary mowing machine. I bought a B2620, and did not plan on mowing with it-until I found a used RFM at a good price. Now, I use the tractor and the RFM when I mow a wide open 9 acre field I own-the field is rough in spots, and it is more comfortable using the tractor.

After these experiences, I would still rather have a MMM if mowing was a primary chore for the tractor, I only had one piece of equipment, and my mowing was around a house, obstacles, etc.

I have both a RFM and MMM for my 2520. I feel the RFM actually gives a nicer cut, probably because it follows the terrain better.

Also, you can get a RFM with rear discharge, which tends to spread the clippings out better than a side discharge. There aren't many rear discharge MMM's around.

Another advantage of a RFM is that you can use it for ballast for the loader if you have one.
