Bolens G214
Hey guys,

I was sold on getting a Kubota b2601 until this morning. Local yanmar dealer posted a Solis ST24 for $11,800. Looking at the specs it seems like all I'm losing is the hydro trans vs the 2601. I have a manual trans bolens so I'm used to shifting, but hydro would be a nice change.y question for you yanmar guys is, is this tractor/brand decent quality? Is it worth saving the 5-6k vs the Kubota? I've already decided I'll sacrifice the hydro to save the money, but I want to make sure there isn't some other fatal flaw I'm missing before I pull the trigger.
Thanks in advance,

if i had a budget of 12k i would for sure be looking for hydro. are you set on new? there is a JD 855 with cab / loader for 12k on CL for example.

i own a gear tractor and drive a hydro sometimes helping a friend. the hydro is soooo much easier.

solis is not yanmar, they are sold as a cheaper option by yanmar dealers. they are built by solis tractor in india. at least that's what i am reading. so they are not yanmar parts.

Many tractors have Mitsubishi engines. They are generally a high quality long lived unit. I'd be more concerned about parts availability for the tractor itself, as in whether it's well supported. Yanmar and Kubota both have good support systems and parts availability.

I would like to buy new. I just don't see the value in used tractors near me. They are either used and abused, or next-to-new prices. That said, I haven't found a hydro tractor near 12k that's as heavy or has the lift capacity or tire size of the Solis. I can buy a Kubota or yanmar for $16-20k, but I'd need to wait until spring 2022 at the earliest to get it. Just budgetary concerns with building my new house.

The Solis 26 has been selling very very well in my country. In fact, it's the number 1 seller up to 25HP. The owners are happy with the machine performance and construction. I don't know about parts availability though.

We have the Solis 26, which is a 26 HP tractor. The ST24 in the US, is probably a bit derated due to the emission requirements, which we don't have in Europe until 2021.

Solis is made by Sonalika in India. We also get the Solis 75 and 90 Cri, 75 and 90 hp respectively, with very good reviews from the owners. Many of them working 8+ hours a day, 5 to 6 days a week with a brush mower attached. The gearboxes and axles on these bigger ones are made by Carraro.

Looks like a well built tractor. Almost a copy of some of the smaller Mahindras.

I went and test drove the Solis this morning. Decided to take the plunge on a Yanmar SA324 instead. My biggest complaint about the Solis is the cramped operator station combined with the ignition being directly in front of the shifter, at about knee height. There is no question in my mind that I would have broken the key off within a week. Also got 0% on the yanmar vs 4.6% on the Solis. Payment difference ended up being $40/month and I felt like that was a small price to pay for the convenience of the yanmar. IMG_20200829_091539.jpeg

Nice! Congratulations on the new tractor.... I only see one problem already.... it is too clean!:D

Congrats on your new machine!

Yeah, the Solis is a bit tight on the operator station. It's kinda meant for the European market and we like things compact over here.

Thanks! I loved my compact little Bolens that I traded in, but I have lots of room on my new land and it's time to upsize.

Oh I solved that problem already. The remnants of hurricane Laura came through yesterday and today so my new machine finished the day caked in mud.

Shenandoah, good choice, Solis is from India as Herm indicated, you will not be disappointed with the 324, I hope the dealer told you the only difference between the 324 and 424 is the tires, everything else is the same, On the Solis, parts are an issue, Yanmar has some and getting them isn't easy sometimes Also Yanmar let all their field service people go at the beginning of June, making service an issue also, when Yanmar started to distribute them the all were sent to dealers in the SE, close to the main office in case they had to send someone from the office to the dealer when an issue came up. They are 0ld school tractors and yes not much room for US guys to be comfortable in the seat.

Good evening,

About the Solis 26 HP HST I can add its transmission is Yanmar made.
The Solis importer in my country told it to me.
And, yes, they are made in India by Sonalika.

But one of their nicest CUT is Solis Cseries, not yet available in Europe : have a look :

New Solis 24 hydro. Its sweet. They were at Moultrie. Mitsubishi, KYB hydro, Bosch electronics, skid steer compatible loader, remotes standard and fit and finish is great. Open deck space for larger folks.

Anyone who knows the parts business will know Carswell and they are parts support as well. Carswell is top notch.

I think you will love the 324. It's a little tank of a tractor. It punches well above its weight. We got ours this summer and already have over 100hrs on the clock. Most of that at PTO speed baling, cutting and raking hay. It also drags arenas using an 800lb drag and pulls a full spreader or two(200 bushels) every day. Not one single issue from the little beast. It just keeps on running.
