Very nice work done by all!!! My tractor is not cabbed yet but very annoyed also with the soot, I think since it's not cabbed the best solution would be a straight stack right ??? I am hopping to start building the cab this summer.....right now I am alsmost finished building a reversible snow scraper/plow....

You might want to find another way of deflecting the exhaust on your tractor IF you don't have the cab yet you will smell the fumes sitting in the seat if you point in towards the back. My buddy got a Bx model and he has some lung problems. He uses his snow blower and with no cab running the exhaust back wasn't an option so I went up with it. I just extended the pipe and with some added bracing it worked out perfect for him. Yes it do look like a muffler but I just added an outside part to make it look more appealing. :D

Your very welcome. Yes that would be a good choice and that way you'll be able to figure out what's best. Good luck and happy tractoring

That's a nice looking tractor you have 4shorts.

With the exhaust pointed down, do you think in the summer it will stir up a lot of dust when you drive?

I'm in the planning stages of changing my 4610 from horizontal to vertical without buying a new manifold.

4shorts,

Dream bend on that pipe (in my dreams) and the Hyd. bender too .. .

Might want to protect the assembly from ice chunks when backing down from a pile - wouldn't want to tweek something so pretty - see the silicone rubber tubing in the pic - could be added anywhere above the outlet . . .

Dave

PS: EDIT - just noticed the brace - should have known better you'd have all the bases covered . . .

Paul:

What else have you built with that nice new pipe bender? I know of the ZTR bumper and now the exhaust pipe extension.

That was the same way I was going to change my exhaust and had all the parts picked up to do the mod but figured that I didn't need to complicate things going that way so I tried the easiest most efficient thing first and it worked.
No it won't stir up dust because the exhaust don't point straight down. It turns towards the rear just a bit. I did try it on a gravel road and it worked great. Thanks. Glad you liked the tractor :)

Good advise Dave. Love the way you did yours. As always you've done a great job. I've plowed all this winter with the set up I have and it's worked so It's a keeper for now unless I decide this summer to adapt two chrome stacks on the little beast :D

Matt It's been used for marine applications and also automotive as well. Been doing some custom bends for other shops as well with it. It's been handy to have around the shop. We do a lot of work for an egg grading station and it's been used for there operation as well.

Another option if people are worried about catching the pipe on something and bending it is.... flex pipe. I just did this on my new 3720 JD as it was blackening the side of the hood, front snowblower, and would have got the loader too, if I hook it on a stick or something it will give instead of bending or harming the stock exhaust pipe.

I put over 25 hours on my L39 clearing snow on my property from the last two storms and I don't have even a smudge of soot on my FEL but yesterday I was looking at a friends L39 and his FEL was almost black from soot. I noticed he put out a lot of black exhaust when pulling power and the only thing I can think of is that I use Stanadyne Performance Formula with every fill-up of fuel.
