Spare tire?

I found a brand new spare tire someone is selling on Craigslist. They want $80 for the wheel and tire. Its listed under boating. How do I know if it will fit my trailer? I have a 7000lb car hauler type trailer. It there an easy way to measure the bolt holes?

This is how it is listed and off the top of my head I think its the same size tire.
Super Trailer ST 215 75 R14. It is a 6 ply, load range C (1870lbs). 5 hole.

most likely it will fit, but it is the right final aspect ratio? I have a 16ft 7k open trailer and it uses r15 rims, but I can take the tire off that trailer and put it on my 22ft camper with r14 rims as a emergency spare. With tire you listed rated at 1870lbs and double that will over the 3500 rating range rated for the axel so it should be alright.

Yeah, I didn't catch that, mine are 15" rims. The tire was the right size, just the wrong diameter.

I bought a new one for $90 at the local trailer place. The guy came out and looked at the trailer to make sure he sold me the right rim.

Beware of the mfg date on the tire.. Although the tire may appear new (it may have never even been on the ground) I would not buy anything more than a yr or 2 old.. The date for mat is a WWYY w = the week of mfg the Y = year of mfg

2108 would mean it was produced during the 21st week of 2008

I would pass even if it was right. Go to a tire dealer with one of your wheels and tires and have them order it. They can match it up for about $120 out the door. You have no idea how old it is???? Been there done that and had a blow out 10 miles after I put it on. When I left the triailer on the side of the road to drive and get another tire, remember I already had a blowout and this was my new spare that failed in 10 miles, I was told the tire was something like 9 years old. Even though it had not touched the road it was failing from inside out. Total waste of money.

I think there are different 5 hole sizes also. You would need to measure the bolt distances.

You are right Ken. I have 2 trailers sitting in my barn right now. Both 15" wheels on 3.5K axles. Both are 5 lug. One is 4.5" patten and the other is 5.0" pattern.

I just went completely thru my 6 x 12 utility trailer to get it up to snuff and this would've been handy. It sure looks good now and I feel better taking it on the road too.
