Spreading Germs

A little off topic but many years ago there was an Ann Landers comment from a reader. Seemed that they had a neighbor who came calling just in time for lunch. One day that person took the plates off of the table, placed them on the floor where upon the dog dutifully licked them clean. The lady of the house then placed them directly back in the cupboard. It worked!

Doesn't everyone do that???
I have watched some clients at work put sugar in their coffee, lick the spoon clean then wipe it dry and put it in the drawer, a good reason to take bottled water with me.

From reading about all these experiences we can probably agree that regardless of age, gender or ethnicity there are all kinds of gross experiences out there. I don’t even want to think about what we DON’T see.

I went to a fast food restaurant years ago and ran into a friend of mine and his twin sons, I sat down to talk for a minute and one of his sons dropped the crown off his burger on the floor, he picked it up and put it back on his burger and continued eating. I thought if your dad isn't going to say anything then I'm not either. YUCK!

Seeing someone do, the old flashlight in the mouth thing, makes me gag.

I will never forget what my doctor said to my mother when I was young and seeing him for a check up. She asked how he never got sick and he said the immune system needs to be exposed to many germs to develop a resistance. He said he hasn't been sick in 30 years and he's still alive and has to be in his late 80's.. It stuck with me to this day.

I now go see anyone at the office that appears sick. I sit down and talk with them at their desk. Sure I get the occasional stuffed up nose but I'll be damned if I've haven't been sick since college. I fully expect to be lying on my deathbed dying of nothing.

I almost hate to utter the words, but I am rarely sick.

Being exposed to germs in the barnyard, may be different than sucking in Viruses while in a 737.

I too am rarely sick. In my case it's because of avoidance, not exposure.

Had a meeting at work and a supervisor turned up with a sick grandchild, 'too sick to go to school so I got him for the day so my daughter could go to work'.
Within a week half the staff were sick.

While out and about today I ran into a restaurant to grab some lunch. A lady and her older child sat down two tables from me. The lady started a conversation with an acquaintance at the adjoining table. During the conversation I and half of the restaurant learns that she has just had her son to the Dr and that he has a particularly nasty case of Strep Throat. The boy was obviously sick.
Why would you want to expose people to this? I know some will think its just a sore throat and some antibiotics will take care if it, but I remember spending two weeks in the hospital trying not to lose my kidneys to Strep. Strep can damage the heart and kidneys. Just plain stupid.

Unreal. In this case the lady was to lazy to take her kid home and make him something good to eat and get him some rest.

I have a part time job in the public. One guy just got out of the hospital and never covered his mouth and coughed right on me. Stay the **** home.

Just too many kids are raised in a condo, never played in a mud pile and a denied peanut butter or licked their candy after they dropped it on the sidewalk etc.
Next off he goes to day care to collect germs.

Compare that kid to the local ragamuffin that is reared on the street and guess which is actually healthier.
