just for curiosity's sake, if you start digging down right there, how far down until you hit dirt? or is is rock?

I must admit, those Power Tracs look pretty versatile!

Just so you know, JD_Beach's machine is a custom job.... bigger tires and different wheel motors(ordered from the factory, as I recall), to handle the sand better.

Carl, yes, we can get insurance. But, as you might expect, it's somewhat expensive.

Flathead, The sand is VERY deep. I know that it goes down at least 20-something feet. It has a lot of clay particles at that depth. There is a sand quarry about three miles inland from our place. They are mining sand at (my guess) forty to fifty feet below the surface. So, who knows how deep the sand goes. However, when you dig down a few feet, de-watering becomes an issue. I understand that the construction folks drive piles 70 or so feet deep without hitting rock.

And Magicheater, ... yes, Powertracs are VERY versatile. Removing the bucket and attaching the hoe takes all of 30 seconds. ... very cool!

Moss, yes, factory tire upgrade. ( I wish they offered chrome wheels!) ... by the way, thanks for all you do for this site. I don't write much, but I check it almost every day and I often see the value that you contribute. Thank you.
