Sprint Cell Phones

True, but Europe has the same area covered 3 or 4 times by different operators and phones are compatible with every network.

In USA you can not simply take your phone and switch operators - to change operator you have to buy a new phone.

( I like that idea about the insurance and new phones )

Please give it thought before filling the cell phone company coffers. Most insurance plans I have seen have been $5.00 per month. How often do you destroy your phone? Don't forget all plans have a deductible. Usually 35-50 bucks. E-bay phones are usually can be had for 40-65.00 including shipping.

How often do I destroy my phone..... or how often do I want a new phone? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've got a 7130 Blackberry that just came out in December. I think I got mine in February.
I just saw the latest Razor phone yesterday and ya know? I want one. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

It was said tongue in cheek anyway, dubba. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

now part of Verizon which uses GSM

Verizon is CDMA. As to which is better, it depends on your area. Both are good technologies. Never make a cellular decision based on GSM vs. CDMA! Find out who is better where YOU want to use a phone. There is more difference caused by local engineering practices and marketing decisions than there is between the technologies.

As for Sprint and coverage - if the general public could see how very little coverage they actually provide (I mean, not roaming on someone else) compared to their competitors, they'd be laughed out of town. They are the BEST at marketing in the business, and nobody else is even close. They're selling like they're a Major League player, when actually from a coverage standpoint they are Little League.

How would I know? 22 years in the business this month.

Wonder if when Verizon bought Aerial they converted them, because I know at that time Aerial was GSM because it used the SIM cards /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. Aerial had GREAT service, I think in the 3 years and all of the phone calls I made I think I had 1 dropped call. They were one of the first to really give you lots of minutes, 500 for $50 I believe where on my other phone I had at the time (actually had 2 at once to get the coverage I needed as that was the cheapest way to go) it was something like $29.95 for 30 minutes. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Around here Central & Southern Ohio, the CDMA coverage sucks. GSM provides much better service and the reason why I say types of service vs carriers is there is multiple of both and the CDMAs all suck and the GSM are much better.
