Good for you.

Where is really deep South East. And were you a pre-order? When was that submitted?

So last night I was having issues with Starlink speed. I did several speed tests and I got anywhere from 8.2 to 9.8 Mbps down and 8 to 12 Mbps up. This morning it is 16 to 20 down and .3 to 6.8 up. Sent them a request for feedback at 8:09 AM. Lets see how long it takes to get an answer and what it is.

UP until last night the slowest speeds that I tested were in the range of 80 to 260 down and 11 to 25 up. Seems like something has happened, since this is happening over an extended time period.
There is a recent post in a FB group referencing this issue. Support responded that it was a known issue they expected to resolve fairly quickly.

Southwest Georgia. I put my deposit down in February 2021. I didn’t receive an unsolicited invite but learned about StarLink here on TBN. Thanks guys.

Thanks for the info.

Still no reply from Starlink after 3 hrs. They were on top of the first 2 questions I asked. No big deal though. It still works better than what I had before.

Mine has been a bit slower with this big storm,
I'm only at 89 Mbps down and 4 Mbps up with several short 2-14 second interruptions.

as far as i know, smart meters communicate over the power grid. but they dont push huge amount of data
Actually most of those use a low frequency low power wireless signal. In a lot of cases there is a pickup driving around once a month with an antenna on the bumper reading the electrical or water meters. Or there is a repeater site every few miles collecting all the data from the meters & forwarding it. Some may do mesh wireless as well.

I can actually use a SDR & sniff the wireless signal coming out of my meter.

I might be mistaken, but when the PSE guy came out to change out our power meters, i'm pretty sure he said they could read it from the office now. The old one though, i believe was wireless, kind of a drive by with the person in the pickup.

Tech moves in such strange ways these days. When building the house, in 2003, which has all underground utility's, I said don't pull coaxial, just give me copper pairs, cause Comcast at the time had such a bad reputation, I would have had to buy a repeater and pay for its maintenance. and sooner or later I figured I could get DSL. We had to make a petition to promise we would sign up with QWest if it would install a Last Mile DSL system. And they did that, and everyone signed up. I wired the entire house for Cat 5 thinking I would need to hard wire. Which in retrospect, was a complete waste of time. Cause, the DSL modems quickly then offered Wireless N home networks. There was a lot of dead wire that was installed. Qwest was taken over by Century Link. And now they are saying they want to end DSL in rural markets cause it doesn't make them enough money. If you are on, its Okay, but new subscribers are turned away and DSL modems are getting harder to find. I fully expect a letter sometime in the near future that says, "We are ending this service." A service that we depend on. Where does the common good, get interrupted by these limited monopolies? Does this make any sense, that ANYBODY could send up 40,000 Sats and make us all change it up? And some other country can send up another 40,000 up there? ON their own system. What do you really need? Do you need 4K for your big display? :)

Mine is read from some office. I actually called in one time and had them tell me what they are seeing, while i had a clamp on meter hooked up. The homeowner was complaining about high power use he wasnt using…

their readings matched mine…he was using it. Some old freezers and refrig units in garage were sucking it down.
