Starlink

You just need the total capacity these days. Network and server appliances are smart now...they will give you what you need up to what you pay for:) Just like today's cloud....

Starlink can link everyone anywhere to the internet, doesnt have to be perfect but it must be useable:) I lknow there are experiments on going with balloons that also provide free internet hotspots but only when in range-aka google balloon, aka Loon.

LoL...so can any accessible ISP...doh!

Not every network that makes up the Internet is the same...again...simple bandwidth is not the cure all to lightning fast connections...

Again...peeps that think that Starlink is going to be like some kind of miracle drug for poor Internet service are possibly in for a big disappointment...!

Physics says he beats geo stationary satellites already. Volume says beats cellular coverage.

Me thinks he is on to something that will turn ISPs on their heads.

LoL...the last time I remember so much hysterical hype about a product created by a brainiac and being shilled by fanboys...it was called "The Segway"...!

The fiber however goes back to a central location which has a switch and a uplink to the next hop.
If you have 30 houses each with a 100mbps connection which all go to a office that has a 2000mbps connection to the next hop and all of those houses are maxing out their connection, when the remaining 10 jump on, or they will all be rate limited to 66mb by the next hop.
Yes, you will be able to verify 100mb to the office, but the internet speed will only be 66mb if everyone is maxing out their connections at the same time.

I'm glad you seem to know so much about our network and how we test. We don't run speed test's back to the "Office" That would be quite silly.

I think for the Targeted audience StarLink will be a great and maybe only option. I have no wired option where I live but am close enough to cell towers to get decent internet over 4G LTE. For some the cell data is not an option so this is where StarLink will shine.

I might be wrong but, wasn't the guy who invented Segway killed? Actually went off a cliff on his own segway? That would be ironic.

I knew a gal who had been completely paralyzed in an car crash. She had a hi tech wheel chair based on segway tech. Seems like It went down stairs backwards! She let me try it once.

Try to sit in a wheel chair, at the top of a stair case, pointed backwards and feel that thing go over the first step.

I see that way out here in the low population boonies. Daytime or early morning, I'll get 26M or 27M on my 25M DSL connection. Peak times in late afternoon, early evening, I usually clock 23 or 24.

You must not be very far out in the boonies. With DSL in my area, the fastest we can get is 7 Mbps down / 1 Mbps up (and that's on a good day, when it's not windy or hasn't rained in a couple of days). If there was another copper pair available, they could do a bonded DSL and get us 10/1 or 10/2 (I forget which). Unfortunately, there are no spare copper pairs in the line.

Unless you know something I don't, Dean Kamen is very much alive and remains CEO of DEKA Research in Manchester, N.H. Quite an interesting fellow.

We get 2mbps, and frontier sent us a letter saying the max we would ever get is 3. On top of that there is no cell signal at our house. Starlink solves all those problems for us.
