Subscribe to Netflix or Prime Video and you won't see any commercials. Same with AppleTV+, but I dropped them due to their DEI programming.

Not actually true re: prime video. One of the main reasons I dropped Prime. They started showing ads unless you pay extra.

It depends. I've heard that YouTube is adding advertisements embedded right into the video feed which makes it about impossible for a blocker to get around. But don't really know because I avoid YouTube with a passion.
My blocker shows a short blank screen before video plays, no other ads.

Someone needs to create a Tivo-like appliance for the internet
YouTube TV has that. Basically offline watching of anything you choose to record. And when watching that way you can fast-forward through the commercials. On many other streaming places like YouTube itself, Max and Netflix you can't skip the ads. :-(

Hulu Live TV is like Utube TV. Expensive, but "recording" is on the cloud, as you say. You pay extra to avoid some commercials.

Watched the new movie, A Complete Unknown on Hulu at my SIL's last week. It had commercials, cuz she had the cheaper option. My version has no commercials, but I left my password at home.

BTW, that was the first decent movie I have seen in a while. But I am a boomer and lived it. Nostalgia's a beech.

Like I said, you pay for a Prime Video subscription, so what about that isn't true? Yes, Prime Video used to be included with the Prime subscription. Now it's an extra $3/month on top of the $160/year Prime membership. Yes, it pissed me off, too, but it's far cheaper than any other streaming service out there, and I purchase more than enough merchandise through Prime to offset the shipping charges I would otherwise incur.

Even with the extra fee at times it has ads and then many of the shows or movies are extra cost.

I guess this varies with location, perhaps because of shipping distances.

I pay $137/yr for Prime with an extra $3/mo if I want ad free Prime video. My choice.

That's because Prime Video will show content from other stream providers. IIRC, those shows are marked with a little yellow square next to the title.

But I've never seen advertising on the Prime Video stream.

Another stream I've gotten to like is the one from Paramount Plus. I can access it through Prime Video, a nice convenience, and the depth and variety of the content is pretty impressive. Enough so that I'm pretty sure I'm gonna drop Netflix.

Regular YouTube has an ad free option but it’s about $14/month. A little pricey but worthwhile if you watch enough.

While looking around for bargains at a local return goods store I spotted these.

Have no idea what they actually cost.
