Start engine with PTO engaged

As for starting the engine with the PTO engaged, I see no problem with that, as long
as an implement such as a rototiller is not fully engaged in the dirt, and/or the engine
speed is set high.

Note that starting a gear tractor in gear can also be done without danger if you are
careful. That is done sometimes when you have clutch problems. Some folks may
have 4x4 vehicles like mine, where you can disable the interlock with a button and move the
vehicle on the starter motor. Sometimes special circumstances warrant doing that.

There is no mention of the window in the manuals, which are for the CK25/30/35
series. Probably isn't one.

Yeah, I sure don't see a window, Tony. Of course, the manual is not very good, and my own CK30 is
an HST with single clutch, according to the CK25/30 parts book.

Yeah, mine too, but the clutch section is the same, I read over it, no mention of any window anywhere. It details how to adjust the stop, pedal, and switch, then goes into splitting the tractor. Everything else is once the thing is opened up. I do have my doubts about a manual for 6 different tractors, but then it is 400+ pages.

You have the LK which is different from the CK obviously. My manual is pretty good, with step by step instructions for splitting the tractor and then making all adjustments and replacements, complete with halfway decent pictures.

Yes service manual has detail on split but not so much other than pedal free play for clutch adjustment. Hate the thought of splitting tractor to adjust clutch.

Makes me wonder how you would get on if you were operating a post hole digger as you need the clutch to work the PTO then. Otherwise your Post hole digger would keep right on digging....

Post hole diggers seem to me to be about the scariest pto implement out there. I've not considered one as our nh rocky soul makes them of no use. Backhoe is the only way to dig a hole short of an excavator.

My tiller hops around like a pogo stick. Spitting out basketball size rocks. Amazing it hasn't broken yet. Slip clutch pto shaft is absolute requirement.

I have rocky ground but mainly sandstone soft rock. You can get tungsten tips to deal with rocks. It was the first implement I bought. Flail mower next. very soon......

Hi alien
I can't go more than a foot down before I start to hit large stones I'm talking the 4ft around variety.

Kbw never seen anything like it before other than ledge.

Yes, a working clutch is necessary for a PHD. I had to rent one to dig holes for support posts (what else), and it was great as long as there were no rocks. One of the holes I went about 2.5 feet down and hit a heck of a rock. I threw my breaker bar down the hole and nothing happened. I wasn't going to dig up half the yard for some stupid rock, so I let it be. That post now sits on a big rock, probably just fine. But the PHD is scary, don't want to get tangled up in it at all, especially if there is no way to stop it.
