Start engine with PTO engaged

/ Start engine with PTO engaged #41
From the Service Manual (CK series). The clutch free travel, clutch stop pad, and clutch safety switch are easily adjustable. Anything else, and the tractor has to be split between the clutch housing and engine (right in front of the dash). Once you are there though, the clutch is right there, and easily accessible:D
I'm guessing that if you are prepared to split the tractor, you are ready to handle anything beyond that as well.

Thanks yes if I get to splitting the tractor then yes I'm good. Hoping simple adjustment of peddle

Thanks

If mine needs to be split, aint no way I'm attempting that. Mine will go to the dealer. But I will check the adjustment tomorrow.

I am not familiar with the 2 stage clutch although I think I understand the operation, please correct if wrong.
The drive clutch is going to wear much faster than the pto clutch because of use. If only the drive clutch is adjusted,( linkage between the peddle and drive clutch) and the pto clutch never adjusted, am I correct in assuming that there will no longer be enough peddle travel to disengage the pto clutch?
Now to gear tractor owners, is there some sort of access plate to get to the pto clutch adjustment? I can't see having to split a tractor just to adjust pto clutch.
I know some have already said adjust clutch, and thank you Ritcheyvs for the diagram and description. I am just trying to understand this system and maintenance myself.

You need the real factory service manual with the illustrations, recommended measuring tools and step by step procedures .

With that said, is there anyone with advice on how to adjust the PTO clutch pack portion of my two stage clutch, not worked on a two stage before. I've got owner's and service manual, neither are of much help, they spell out play in peddle but not much else. I need to adjust mine, I've got enough drag fully depressed that I can not engage implement.

Thanks,
Joel

I'd like to hear from those that have adjusted a 2 stage clutch as well. Not the first time hearing the manual isnt much help. If its like adjusting a clutch on a vehicle/pickup, I got that part. Curious if its similar.

Thanks my fear is that my adjustment may need to be internal as my drive free play seems to be right on based on feel will measure this weekend

I guess I can adjust to get some more throw at the bottom of pedal stroke and maybe that will do the trick as I don't think I'm hugely off as under a bit of load the implement will stop spinning with clutch fully depressed

Joel
I have adjusted the 2nd clutch on a Kubot, and other brands probably provide for it similarly. -- There is access to the adustment bolts thru a "window" cover on the housing as I recall. ... Once you find it, the most important thing is to mark each bolt and turn each the same amount so the plate is lifted evenly.

Why not use the clearance tool and ensure all the adjustments are correct . If it's uneven from an improper previous adjustment . The clutch will still be out of adjustment after turning all the adjustments the same distance .
