If you don't have a lifting boom, I have and idea you might be interested in.

Take a 2 inch box tube about 10 inches long, this will slide in the receiver. Install some kind of knuckle joint on the 2 inch box, and add about 6,8, or 10 feet of 2 inch box tube, At about the 4 ft mark, top, of box, weld a chain holder. The other end of the chain hooks back to the Quick-Attach plate with a chain slot. Install a hook or what ever at the end of the boom. This unit can be broken down very quickly when not needed . Maybe something like this picture.

I bought PT's receiver hitch as I have no welding background/experience, and I love it for moving our car trailer in tight quarters. Your unit looks great!

I mentioned here some months back that I would like to have an edger to slip into my receiver hitch. Again, no welding skills /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif However, I did find at Agri-Supply {HERE} King and Blanton type disc hillers in various diameters w/ various stem lengths. Do you think one of these could be welded to appropriate box stock to make an edger, or will it be more complex than that?

The differences between the two types of hiller are shown on the next page of their catalog {HERE} It looks like the bearings for the King style might be more robust, accounting for the price differences (?).

I was thinking of getting a 14" diameter hiller w/ a generous shaft, like 18-22" and having someone weld up to box stock which has been angled in the proper orientation.

The PT edger disc is 18" in diameter and it is too big for my edging needs. The orientation of the disc with respect to the ground on the PT unit appears to be plumb vertical. Does anyone think a little + or - camber of the disc might make it more efficient?

(lift boom versatility?) 

 Just remember that versatility (lifting capacity) is inversely proportional to the overall boom length! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

If the PT-425 can lift ~800# with the adaptor plate 3' from the wheels, then with a 3' boom added, it will only lift ~400#, and with a 6' boom added, only ~250#!! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The Power Trac 48" Lifting Boom should be good for ~325#. 

 PS: With a 10' boom added, the average man could lift the rear of the PT-425 clear off the ground by just pulling down on the end of the boom!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
