What exactly is the problem? Is the engine cranking over and not starting or is it not even cranking? If it's not cranking, is the clutch depressed and is the clutch safety working, any other safety switches not engaged? If it is cranking over, do you have any smoke coming out of the exhaust, if so, what color is it?

It likely has a safety switch at the transmission...make sure any/all shifters are in neutral. It also likely has one at the PTO, so make sure that isn't engaged. Lastly, it may have one on the seat, so make sure you're sitting on the seat when you try to start it.

Is the one at transmission internal or external ..also is there a site i can download a manual

Safety switches should all be external.
Check the starter wires etc, maybe one let loose in travel.

That has to be a safety switch Check all the connections make sure they are tight also check the ground and make sure it is clean.

I've got a Yanmar 276D. 1987(+- ) There is a safety switch on the clutch and that is it on mine. I recently had a starting problem. No power. It turned out to be a previous repair problem. There was a male/female connection that was barely making contact. Possibly the vibrations from your road trip loosened up an already marginal connection.
