Tom_H,

Global Warming -> Yes.
Caused by Man -> No.

I have not tried the neck cooler. But on Friday I mowed the lawn which takes an hour. The temp was 96 so I would guess the heat index was over 100. I was fine mowing, I was wet with sweat and there was a breeze. A few places needed to be edge so I grabbed the hedge clippers and walk around the house cutting the grass here and there. Basically a slow walk. I was bent over so that the back of my head, neck and back was expose to the sun. After I got 3/4s the way around the house I had to stop and sit in the shade. The sun was about to kill me. I was out of breath, very tired, and getting dizzy. After sitting a bit I went and finished the last 30 feet or so. But even that few minutes heated me back up.

In the past I have taken a short towel, wetted it down and put it under a hat so that it covered my neck. I should have done this on Friday. :D I could see the next cooler working but a cheap towel will work just as well and cost less. :)

Later,
Dan

Global warming...not in the Al Gore context, but yes in a natural cycle of weather.

I've used the neck coolers. They work somewhat but don't last long before needing re-filling. Setting on the dozer, pushing brush seems to be a good time to use one as opposed to when actively moving around working.

Its gotten to where it is just too much trouble to constantly re-fill them so I don't bother with mine anymore.

There is still no relief from the heat here in central Texas. With the porch Temperature at 101 I turned on the misters. That brought the temperature down to a comfortable 95 degrees.:D
My ponds are at record lows, and the grass, is hard to find, come on fall...:eek:

RobertN I saw this fire truck at College Station last week and thought of you. It's not Red but it looks cool.

What ya need is a Forest Fire! 40s in the morning and 65-75 during the day.

Of course you'll have to deal with the smoke and as far as my misters their dual purpose now.

Sure, I got the box with the 10 misters, 20 feet of PVC with female connections, drain valve and garden hose connection from Home Depot several years ago. They still have it but I don't know the cost.
