Staying cool in rural areas

This is my first summer living full time in rural Texas. with Temperatures over 100 degrees F this week here are a couple of ways I have found to keep cool.

1. Ice cream social on the square!
2. New Fire Truck training!

How do you keep cool in your rural area?

Filling the tub with ice and jumping in is a sure way to keep cool. It's miserable as heck up here in Ma. too. The firetruck would do the trick. The ice cream only lasts for 5 minutes. I just did that one. Now I'm sweating worse than I was before eating those 3 scoops.

I saw on the news last night that the fire departments are hitting all the local parks in rotation to let the kids play in the water. Great idea and good community relations.

My son is at scout camp this week. Terrible thunderstorms last night. I'm heading up this evening, should be interesting to see how they're handling the heat/rain/thunder/lightning in their canvas tents!

wake up at round 5-5:30 work till 10 or 11am turn the porch misters on check out TBN then sit by the river in the shade all day start work at 6 ish.

No a/c not even a fan, I wsh i had some ice-cream

I won't know until I get there this evening, but I'd say there is a good chance they all went to the dining hall during this storm. I only wish I'd have gotten my camera out. The lightning was impressive, as was the volume of rain.

How do you keep cool in your rural area?

Hi Don,

I start early, work until my brain melts and thought becomes dificult, then I surf the web, check out TBN and work on indoor projects. Heat is almost like rainy days for me.

Almost.

When the kids are here, then I take there lead. They can play outside all day long and never complain about the heat.

I tried to cool off today taking a ride on the motorcycle. It was too hot for that too. Sweat was just pouring off of me.

Naw, that's my little 3/4 acre pond by the house. I put some Channel Cats and Coppernose Bluegill in it this year and was bit three times that day!!! Guess I'd make good bait if I was on a hook. hahahaha

The lake is coming along slowly. Dozer is overheating, but I got the dump truck running today with a new carberator. Did some test laps in the heat to make sure I had power again and it's looking good.

Tomorrow I'll enjoy the heat either in my backhoe or the dumptruck. My dad is here, so we might even trade off. hahaha Hows that sound for a fun way to beat the heat!!!!!
