2wd raking hay going on a side slope then up the hill it was an absolute necessity. I'd rather have them and not need them then need them and not have them. I am an infrequent user of any large tractor but when I rake for my father in law there are no flat areas around here and even cutting the corners they're needed.
I was complaining to him that it was near impossible to go side and up without sliding. He told me about the brakes and use them every single time I rake for him now.
Then I learned about the locker. He's a trial by fire type of teacher. I remember the first time I drove his 4wd ford 7610.
Anyway I'm a novice and use steering brakes frequently bc of terrain.
