Steriod shot in knee, ???

I complained about groin pain during an annual physical, the doc sent me for I believe it was a CT scan,,

Well the diagnosis was AVascular Necrosis,,, AVN,, the blood supposedly quit going to my right femur, the ortho guy wanted to schedule my hip replacement that day.
The ortho guy said that at my weight, and the extent of the AVN, the ball could snap off my femur any day,,

Well,, I am 99% sure the AVN diagnosis was wrong, it has been over three years,

I decided to try the KETO diet to reduce the pain,, it worked,,
my wife and I eat together, so, she also is following the KETO diet,, I would recommend KETO to anyone for ANY pain issue.

Search "KETO diet pain reduction" on YouTube, that is where the wife and I were sold on KETO.

I am on my way to my 70th birthday,,, and feel better than I have in 20 years,,
For exercise, I have been replacing many of the shrubs around the house,,

Rather than wood mulch, I am "mulching" with rocks,, by hand, that I collect from the woods around our house.
Other than the rocks that are over 200 pounds, I am moving all the rocks by hand with a cart.

Probably about 20-30 loads so far,,

I am SUPER happy that I tried KETO before surgery,, it has been great for me.

Actually, we are on a kinda modified KETO,, our carbs are WAY below what is allowed on the KETO diet,,
but,, that is another story,,,

As grandpa said "Never buy a place without rocks.....you won't have any building material"..... :D

One thing I haven't seen mentioned here if one does decide to get knee replacement is the "ice machine" I got issued one to take home and keep with my surgery, but have heard of others that did not....so if you're in that latter category, BUY ONE.

It's just a small ice chest with a little pump in it that circulates COLD water thru couple tubes in a wrap you velcro around your knee.....after replacement, it will be the love of your life for a few weeks. You dump a little ice in it, along with gallon or so of water, and it will last about all day. Hands down, best thing ever.....

I was told 5-6 years ago that I needed a new knee. I've been working as a Pipefitter since 1976 in construction/maintenance/shutdowns, etc. Now I'm paying for all those years of abuse. I've been wearing a knee brace for 4 years now, and have been on a wait list for replacement for 6 months (after waiting 1 1/2 years to see the surgeon).
When it happens (which sure as heck will be in the middle of haying), I will be looking for one of those "ice machines". Glad you said it helped, as I had heard of them before and have wondered if it would help me if and when the surgery happens.

Darn it.....why can't we just have grease zerks like our tractors have?

That and replaceable bushings.. :)

LOL, once on a renovation job we had a guy that had bad knees.
Next day I arrived with a zerk taped to my knee just for laughs.

Still today (15 yrs later) the old gang still talk about that joke.

(I had mounted the zerk on a washer and used double back sticky tape to hold it in place.)

I was lucky as all the work crews that I had enjoyed good humor as well as doing good honest work.
With my crew comradely was as important as good work.

Often at the end of a particularly hard or hot day I'd treat the gang to a few cool ones.
Those few brews paid great dividends.

Think I'm going to do that when I finally get in to see the vet. (Put a grease zerk through my pant leg). Just tell him I was getting tired of waiting so long to have the surgery. Of course, he may not think it as funny as I do.....

That is pretty dang funny. Clever with the double sided tape. I would have loved to seen their reaction.

I had an ice machine, but it was different than yours. I didn't have to load it with ice everyday. Instead, it had it's own mini refrigerator, tubes and fluid. All I had to do was plug it into the wall and Velcro the pad to my leg.

You're right, they sure were nice to use.

I came home from the hospital with a strap-on pouch that held two ice packs & two extra gel packs to go with it.
