Sticking Hydro Pedal on BX.....

Junkman, Dieseltoy's is on the right track. I talked to a service tech at my local dealer today. He knew exactly what the problem was. said the tolerances was tight and alittle sand ,grit or mud would cause it. The pivot point on the linkage works with a roller bearing. since there is no inner fender or shield between the right rear wheel and this, the tire is constantly fling mud on this. keep it cleaned out with penetrating oil . if its frozen then a couple of taps with a flat punch should shake it loose then soak it with oil. if you live were it actually rains ( I Don't ) then rusting could be the cause and flushing it with penetrating oil should help stop it. Good Luck and yes kubota knows ,he said he's talked to engineers there about a shield for it. Scoot

Junkman,
We had a similar situation about two months ago in our shop. We tried all sorst of sprays including Deep Creep, to no avail. I was fearing something wrong internally. BUT, all we dis was loosen the two bolts on the bracket that supports the end of the pivot shaft right at the transmission [gold incolor). This allowed whatever dirt and grass that was lodged to fall out and now it works fine. How old is your machine because first models did not have grease fitting on pedal pivot for which there is a warranty replacement (within time frame). Otherwise it isn't too expensive and if you have low hours and are on good terms with service manager then you can always ask if they can get approval anyway.

When my dealer picked up my BX for the broken air cleaner bracket, I asked that he look at the balky HST pedal. He denied that the BX's have a general problem there.

No amount of cleaner/lubricant can free mine up.

I've cleaned it, sprayed it, lubed it, greased it, polished it, waxed it, and have done everything short of gold plating it, and it still isn't anything great. I am just going to have to use it until I finish my spring time clean up and have time to shuffle it off to the dealer for repair. In the meantime, lamarbur is going to be coming down next week to give me a hand doing some work around the place and then it is going to be fixed. Hopefully by the time it gets to the dealer, Kubota will have a fix for this problem. Thanks to everyone for the help and suggestions....... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

OK BX 2200 owners, the bearings are called CRADLE bearings and they are INSIDE the housing of the tractor.......and Kubota KNOWS of this as that is how my dealer finally got mine fixed. It is or was in my case done under warranty.

Sorry that I did not post this or have this sooner..........work got in the way of play, which should be illegal. Anyway, hope this helps you guys and gals out there. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I am not knocking my dealer but I have tried the spraying all the pedal linkages on my BX22 and have gotten ZERO! The pedal still sticks and the dealer says it is a lube issue.

Does anyone have a letter, email, memo from Kubota on the Cradle bearings caused this problem.

no papers on it, but my dealer did contact them to find out what was up with it..........on the second try. I think on the first one, he did what others have done, lube it up, but after a day or two, it was up to it again

Just purchased a 2003 BX1800 with 380 hours from the original owner. Unfortunately, I got used to the slowness of the pedal to return, and thought it was just a way of easing down the speed. So I went flying around moving logs and was approaching a trunk to cut and drag out, full speed 2nd, and the pedal seized. By the time I realized what was going on, and between the bumps and quickness of the situation, I wasn't able to get my foot on reverse and jammed down on forward again. Bent my bucket pretty good, and my Husqy 372 went into the trunk and broke, but thankfully I stayed alive, only to come here and find this is a common problem. I've read all the replies and will update you on what I find outside of the transmission. Hopefully I won't have to drag it to the dealer for the cradle bearings, but thank you all for doing the legwork.

Wow! You may have set a record resurrecting a thread after 17 years! o_O

Edit: suggest you start a new thread with your question...

I'll never for the life of me understand why some people, with nothing else to say, believe that on topic continuation of a thread is less preferred than creating a new one, this isn't the morning news, its a repair thread on a single topic. I don't want a bunch of people with no background on the topic chiming in. I did not come here to chit chat, but that said, feel free to message me privately about the other world records I've set. Welcome to a specific repair thread Henro.
