Mine did that and ingested part of the cutter bar. NOT pretty. The cutter bar is hard of course and is ground to have sharp edges. All of those sharp edges are stress raisers, yet only the cutting edge needs to be sharp. The sharp edges around the bolt holes are great crack initiation sites and should be blended to the surface. Also the support for the bar is not flat and does not uniformly support the bar. As an attempt to improve the situation, I blended the holes and then waxed the bar [as a release agent] and bolted it down on epoxy putty. No further problems with that area.weldingisfun said:I would like to put in a good word for Tommy of Affordable Tractor Sales.
I bought my Jinma Chipper from him on 13 January, Tommy gave me a 90-Day Parts Warranty. As I was reversing my blades and cutter bar for the first time, I found that the cutter bar was broken. After contacting Tommy with the news, he arranged to have a new cutter bar to be sent to me. It arrived in the mail today after just four days.
Thanks, Tommy.
It sure feels good when a business backs up its products and promises with prompt decisive action.
It would probably be a good idea to inspect the bar frequently for cracks emanating from the holes.
