Welding is fun: Always feed the large end first. That will prevent jams. If you have a utility trailer, shoot the chips into it so they are ready to transport around the property. Make sure to wear high quality hearing protection. The sooner you chip after cutting, the better. Chipping 6 month dry wood is possible, but slower and will create more dust.

Enjoy your new chipper. Lots of free good looking mulch is a satisfying thing to look at at the end of the day.

I don't think the chip size is directly related to the gap. The chip passes behind the knife as it's cut.

I visited a TSC nearby and saw that they now carry the Jimna Chippers. But, it isn't the red, blue or green and yellow one we all know and love. It was in solid King Kutter yellow. They had it priced at $1,989. That is nearly $400 more than I paid for mine just last week.

Someone asked for photos of mods. Here is what I did to adapt my chipper to my Speeco quick hitch.
The upper and lower mounts for the 3 point had to be lengthened and so did the PTO shaft. The PTO shaft is now double walled and because of that the plastic safety cover could not be reinstalled. I felt if I was smart enough to not put my hand through the chipper I was smart enough not to get around a spinning PTO shaft.
On our first use of the chipper I shot the chips directly into the truck bed, which was a mistake. I ended up with little specks of tree sap all over the truck, what a mess!

Confused: I've seen an advertizement for a 6 & 8 inch Jinma chipper, but several places state that they are the same unit. I think I need a 8 inch, due to the fact that most of my ttrees still have the limbs on them. With the 8 inch then the throat would be larger to allow for the trunk and limbs.

I have also been quoted prices on both, so can anybody shead some light on this?

gordon21 Thanks for the tip on Affordable Tractor. I sent Tommy an email this morning and he replied very fast. I may have a lead on a Farmpro dealer in south GA. If it doesn't pan out, I will probably go with AffordableTractor.
