I found the attached painted on the ground at the end of my driveway. I only go to my property every couple of weeks but from the looks of it they were painted fairly recently. Does anyone have any ideas? They look something like survey markings but I didn't find anything else nearby.

It looks like somebody has called in a utility locate. I don’t know the abbreviations at the top but the bottom is CLR which means clear. The orange is phone and the red is usually power.
Here, power is white, blue is water. I couldn't tell you what the others are.

Purple=reclaimed/grey/raw water
Blue=water (potable)
Green=sewer, (sanitary gravity or Forcemain); storm sewer is technically not a utility, but a roadway facility, and are not covered by locate rules
Red=electric
Yellow=gas
Orange=telecom (coax, copper, fiber, leaded air, all telecoms)
Pink=surveyor
White=contractor marking where he needs locates

These are set by the Damage Prevent Guidebook in Fla, (think it's FS 556 or something) may differ state to state

There does seem to be a contradiction at times for effluent lines; I've seen them marked as blue, green, or purple; (water treatment waste, paper plant discharge, brewery discharge, ect)

It's funny. The local power company used white to mark power pole locations for install.

Local electrician marked in white as well for his guys to place the temporary pole as well as rv and septic pedestal.

Local water company marked in blue for their install locations.

Could that be the power company 'white lining' for the location of their excavation, before they call in locates?

I noticed two guys said the CLR meant clear; so the locate company actually comes out and confirms they are clear? That's amazing, we have trouble getting them to actually show up, even when we excavate directly on top of their stuff. They definitely are gonna actually show up if they are clear, they clear those as soon as they get the ticket...

That's the thing. No locates were necessary except by the road in the utility easement.

So, here, technically, any excavation, including on private property, legally requires a dig ticket. Punishable by upto a $500 fine (not widely enforced, Jacksonville area I hear it is; and about 12 years ago, FWC was writing tickets; the agency that writes the ticket gets 50% of the fine).

As some background, FWC (Florida Wildlife ) was written mostly warnings, as seemed directed at electricians, plumbers, and irrigation guys; because for a lifetime, they never bothered to call them in. Each contractor has to have their own ticket; IE the electrician can't work under the General Contractors ticket.
I do know one guy who got fined (an electrician) but it was mostly a 'running his mouth' ticket, they stopped him and he gave them the 'I've been on this site for 8 months, I know where everything is, and I'll be damned if I'm going to call and wait 72 hours for them to tell me there is nothing here'. I think he probably also questioned FWCs authority, which is a bad move, they got more power than a cop.

Thanks for all the replies. Some of these have me scratching my head even more. When I said end of my driveway I should be been clearer that they are located just outside my barn and that is about 450 yards from the main road which is where the nearest utilities are located. Behind me are crop fields and pasture and the utilities have to get permission to run across property without an existing easement. I'm not sure where it would go even if they were going to try and run utilities. I think I may need to call the county and find out if they know anything.

A good game camera is your friend if you can't be at the property all the time.

Have you recently scheduled a septic tank pump out, phone install, or anything similar?

I don't know if it would work, but could you call the locate number and find out who asked for the locate?
