Tess, my 11 year old Golden Retriever sleeps on the carpet in our bedroom in the winter on in the bath tile floor in the summer, except when we have guests staying over. She then sleeps with the guests. She will go to their room several hours before bed time to make sure she gets to sleep there.

I always tell the guests that she's been taught to watch them so they don't steal anything.

Baxter will chase the lawn mower, vacuum cleaner, and attack the chainsaw (if I would let him) but once saw a mouse in the back hallway and will not go there alone after dark.

The cat has a piece of that yellow nylon braided rope that we've used as a toy. Occasionally he'll pick it up in his mouth, arch his back way up and parade around with it, yeowling in a very peculiar voice, almost like he's being murdered ...

Ellie, our Corgi, is master of the inverted sploot.
Sploot
When a corgi lays flat on its belly with his/her legs spread out.

I had never seen a dog sleep so much with all 4 paws to the sky and limp.

Ladybug the pug will lay on a house floor vent to cool her belly. She will do it soon as I click the A/C thermostat on even before the actually cool air starts coming out!

On their daily walk our dogs stuff themselves with a certain kind of weed and top that off with tall grass that is just the right age--in their judgment. They get greenery in their food and plenty of raw meat too. It seems to settle okay with no adverse effects, so I assume they know what they are doing even if I don't. They do look forward to the greening of spring after a long winter of snow cover.

Our dog swim's laps in the horse troughs. On a hot day, she will run from trough to trough around the property.

My wife grew tired of our dogs getting hot and then going down to the creek to wallow in the mud to cool off. She bought them a small plastic kiddie pool. Now they run a round awhile and then flop in the kiddie pool to cool off. They look as worthless as they truly are in the kiddie poll. And I tell them that. When the wife can't hear me.

I'm glad to know my dogs aren't the only ones with their own kiddie pool.

We've had a 10 year old rescue cat for about 4 months now. When he sleeps, he folds both of his paws over his eyes, no matter what position he's in. I think its something he learned while doing time in cat prison.

We had a dog that could sneeze on command. Not some little pachoo, either. I mean you'd point at him and say "DOG! SNEEZE!" (his name was Dog) and he'd wind up and AHHH CHZOOO!!!, his head would shake side-to-side, and most times his nose would bounce off the ground and he's sneeze a second time. Then he'd look at you and start barking, waggin his tail and turning in circles. Craziest thing. He was a large, dark, collie/sheppard mix mutt. We taught him that trick completely by chance. I was teaching him to "speak" (bark on command) and he'd learned it pretty quick. However, I noticed that if he hadn't been barking for few hours, the first time he barked, he'd alway sneeze first, then start barking. I think he had allergies or sinuse troubles or something. Anyhow, since he'd sneeze if he wasn't "warmed up", instead of saying "DOG! SPEAK!" I'd just say "DOG! SNEEZE!". Man, that would get some looks and laughs. Freaked people out.

Apparently he didn't distinguish between SNEEZE and SPEAK. Unfortunately, that was in the days before home video, and when Letterman started doing Stupid Pet Tricks, poor on Dog was too old to travel, or I'd have taken him to New York. Probably the best, most mellow dog I ever met. I miss that mutt! :)

kiddie pool here!

shadow, the runt that she is, is a sniffer, has to smell everything, including stuff she about to eat. she is one picky little dog, i finally found something that interests her. and that is FROGGING!
tree frogs are specialty, the latest frog = bull frog in the kiddies pool, for life of her she just not able to catch it, she paws at water, paws at the concrete blocks i have for getting in and out of the pool, but just never manages to get a hold of it, expect 2 times, and that was an eskimo kiss (her nose vs bull frog nose), always has to check out the kiddie pool to see were her frogs are before she does anything else.

kujo the taz mania devil dog that he is... always has to have a toy in his mouth. the one exception "water splashing or coming out of a hose" if water could feel, it would be a living **** with kujo around. he has to smack his teeth and chompers together, to tear that water up, or he not happy.

Back to my Golden, this weekend my 12 year old grandson was here for a visit. It's been about 18 months since last visit due to distance. Of course, Tess went crazy, following him everywhere.

One time she was sleeping, and while I've seen her dreaming and her legs going and soft woofing, but this time her tail was wagging like crazy. She's never done that before.

I gotta get that dog a boy!

My family has a 1 y/o old yellow lab. I've had a few dogs and this one has the most personality of all of them. She is funny to watch. Playing with toys, running around like a fool but rarely a bark or whine where my other dog is quite verbal. She makes more noise while sleeping than when awake and her cheeks flap when woofing while asleep. The other thing I've never seen from a dog is she itches herself with her rear paws while standing up. She used to fall over but now she balances pretty well. Comical.

we inherited a cat a few years ago that is a bit independent, until
his food bowl is running low or getting stale (won't eat the last bits either)

his oddity is we can't get him to drink water out of anything but a dripping
bathroom sink. no bowls, no small water dispensers for hamsters, nothing
but a sink. we do catch him dipping down into the toilet if we forget to
leave one dripping for him for a long period of time.

Our blue healer brings pasture kill to our outdoor cat. The cat is pretty fat. She also brought fresh kill bunnies, field mice and snakes to her pups...divied up the catch between them too.
