^^^ Yikes! Never knew of anyone that had a pet raccoon.
My grandmothers hair dresser had a pet skunk. It was a friendly little thing. They did end up putting a hunter orange cat collar on it after one of the neighbors almost shot it.

Freaked him out when the skunk kept following him around. Of course his first thought was rabies.

Skunk had it's fogger removed and was current on it's rabies vaccination.

Of course it's illegal to do that now with out permits. But back in the 70's it was quite common to know someone who had a pet racoon or skunk in rural Vermont.

The one we had was found in one of my great grandfathers live traps. Was just a baby. So Dad and Mom took it in and raised it. But it could come and go through the fresh air vent in the trailer we lived in at the time.

We had it for about 9 months, then it found a mate and moved on. It would come and go during the day. Then dad would put a foot stool leg on top of the fresh air vent at night to keep the coon out. In the morning, they would remove the foot stool and Bandit would come in and make her rounds. Wash her paws in the dog and cats water bowl and eat her breakfast.

You should leave the lid up so it could get a quick drink of water :D

My wife has a couple plants that aren't in soil, but just water with some marbles for support. This cat loves to drink out of them.
Had another cat that would try and drink out of a glass of water that had been left on a table, generally knocking it over in the process. We learned not to leave them around.

I have a black mouth cur that's incredibly attached to me. If anyone has had a BMC, you'll probably agree that they relate to their family completely different than any other dog.

Anyway, I travel frequently and my kids say he's completely lost when I'm away and he'll sulk for a day or two, sometimes sleeping in my closet or on something of mine that was left on the floor. When I return home from traveling, his whole world brightens back up.

When I came home from one of my trips, I put my opened luggage on the floor in my bedroom. When I walked in later, he had pulled a bunch of the clothes out and was sleeping in my luggage. I guess he was telling me to take him on the next trip.

We have two cats. One likes to stick her head in the stream of water while I'm brushing my teeth and slobber the water that runs down her face. The other is fascinated when the water gets turned off, and attacks the drain as the water leaves the sink.

Our shepherd is the same way when I travel. She will mope and wait in the foyer.

My wife used to have to walk through the house with our late miniature dachshund and open every door and let him inspect before he would settle down when I was away. She would have to repeat it every night till I got home.

When I was a kid we wound up with some baby foxes and we gave one to somebody that lived in the city. They had it in their house like a dog. They said that they could never housetrain the fox.

Someone a while ago posted a photo of a dog way up in a tree. That's hard to beat!

Colonel likes to sit on his back sometimes (see pic) and when he wants inside he will often perch on a chair (see pic) so he can see if someone is coming to the door. He regularly kills mice, voles, squirrels and birds (and one rabbit), then always brings them up to the deck as a gift to us. :irked: He just showed up one night a couple years ago and he decided to stay.

It's funny how a thread will lanquish forgotten, then rejuvenate. Colonel is one big a** cat. Are you sure that his mother didn't mate with a mountain lion?
