I saw that one in operation on The History Channel. "Logging Tech" if I am not mistaken. Quite a sight seeing it moving.

That's a working tractor! I particularly like the hand crank for raising the front blade and the hand-operated hydraulic pump for the 3-pt. Very inventive.

Used for picking up hay and putting it into a stack. They were very common untill about 40 years ago. Got displaced by balers and fellows who really liked hard work! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I just do not know why this impliment became outdated.

Farmers made small stacks. They used a stack mover to haul the stack to the feed lot. There they had a movable metal rack so the cattle were allowed a certain amount of hay per day. Others reloaded the stacks and used a cutting attachment to lay out rows of hay for feeding.

This was the least labour intensive way of haying and feeding that I have seen. To my mind it also produced the best hay.

The Farmhand also had a very high reach so it was used for any number of other work chores on the farm.
