Thanks for the info guys. If I am going to purchase I need to do it pretty soon. I emailed the factory to see if there is one in my area.

I received my Woodland Mills WG24 Stump Grinder recently. I have it ready to go with one disappointment - it doesn't fit my John Deere I-Match quick attach. It would be much easier to connect and disconnect if it adapted to the quick attach.

It fits fine on the two lower pins (on the quick attach) but is about 1" too high for the upper center pin mount on the quick attach. I can fabricate a part but that isn't my specialty so it will take some work if its worth it.

Any ideas on how to close the gap?

Ya, or any other Quick Hitch. All the others have an adjustable top hook.

If it were me I'd weld on an extra bracket to fit the standard QH spacing. But I have a welder.

Seven months later, I finally had a good day to set up the grinder and get to work. The setup has been fairly well reviewed here so I won't really go into detail there.

I tackled everything from small 3-4 inch stumps to 30" bois d'arc stumps (had 7 of those, all big). The small stumps were chewed up in one pass. The larger stumps like pictured below took longer, anywhere from 5-10 minutes depending on species. I was moving fairly slow on the big stumps as I didn't want to tear up the grinder or my tractor. I was in no huge rush but I managed to grind around 40 stumps that first day. This thing will pay for itself in no time flat. I've still got another 30-50 stumps that need grinding.

Someone mentioned before that it was hard to judge the location of the grinding wheel. Maybe each tractor is different due to seat location relative to the grinder, but I was able to turn and look straight down at the stump and I could easily see the grinding wheel from the driver's seat. I had no spotter and never felt like I needed one.

I didn't run into any problems other than the sheath that slides over the PTO shaft getting crushed where the two pieces slide over each other. I did get some bucking once in a while (only on the big stumps) but I would just raise the unit 1/4" or 1/2" and the bucking would immediately stop.

Yeah but at 250 a day and the number of stumps on my place I think buying the grinder makes more sense. Especially if I can sell it when I'm done for at least half of what I paid for it.
Sell it to me!!

This is an interesting machine. Any more reviews?

I've been needing to hire someone to grind a bunch of stumps, been waiting to see how many more I need to get done.

Worst part of hiring someone is needing them the week after they finished the job. If I owned a stump grinder, I'd grind when I needed to and not wait till I'd accumulated enough to justify having someone com in and do it.

Thanks for the info and keep it coming.

I love this forum.
