Thanks for checking Brandi. I think you are right about long term owning of a grinder, unless you have a decent amount of new work each year from falling trees perhaps. Last year we had an great guy out of Huntsville bring an awesome large stump grinder to our place to destroy the huge pine stumps that were lining the road out front. He pulled it with a 3/4 ton Chevy single cab 4x4, and then hooked it up to a front receiver hitch he had for maneuvering. The thing had about a 5-6' hydraulic ram that allowed him to position close to a stump and even reset if needed. He could destroy a monster stump in about 5-10 mins. All of the power went to the grinder hydraulics as it had no drivetrain. Ended up taking out about 60 med - larger stumps in a row for right at $600 in just three hours. Nice hourly rate, but still a decent deal to me. I believe it was about a $50 grand unit. I believe it. If anyone around North Houston needs big or numerous stumps ground up like they were butter, check out Bobby Hoke Stump Grinding. It is a wider unit and probably needs an 8-10ft gate to pass through.

I'll get right on that thread search - Thanks. I too saw it was a Canadian Company. We have no shortage of trees and stumps up there, so it must be a really great machine. :D

Maybe not great, just a reasonably priced machine for what most homeowners are likely to need. I would not stack it up against a pro grade machine if you want them gone in the shortest period of time and make a profit doing it. As with anything, you get what you pay for. It would be like comparing a pickup to a dump truck but I don't need a dump truck so the pickup will do me just fine.

Burn is a bad word around these parts. LOL We've had quite enough burning going on thank you very much. Not as bad around here this year though, it seems it's Southern California's turn again. Besides I don't have the trees, just the stumps to deal with. The trees were logged out some years ago in the past. All ages and all sizes.

Just have someone haul all your stumps to one of those numerous, CA wiener roasts. Lack of burning is the cause of all those wiener roasts.

LOL I can't think of many places in California where lack of burning is much of a problem. It ain't called shake and bake for no reason. I guess it was here before I got the understory and overgrowth cleared out but that left all the stumps visible.

Well the BH install was shoddy and the manuals are truly crap. Maybe if more people bitched about them Mahindra would breakdown and fix them. Otherwise I like the tractor. Or are you one of those people who wouldn't say crap with a mouth full of it? The first step in solving any problem is to first recognize the problem and the manual thing is a very easy one to fix.
It's like seeing a Ferrari. It looks sleek, sexy and shiny, it sounds just great like a Ferrari should, then you open the door and find a milk crate to sit on.

LOL Mr.Foster..No I have never become accustomed to the taste of a sh#t sandwich (as I like to call them) However I don't justify a crappy manual and a few other minor problems to dictate the whole of a product either..(IE a double decker SH#t sandwich) I'm not sure who wrote the manual ,but it very well may have been TYM (who your tractor was actually manufactured by) Re-branded Mahindra.. Why? I don't know..Yet you equate a "crappy manual" ,nylon wire tie,and a missing bolt?(if I remember correctly) to sitting on a milk crate in a FERRARI? I will say that my Mahindra built 4530 has far exceeded my expectations at everything I have thrown at it. No fuss ,no problems other than a leaking fuel line that was replaced under warranty.I guess my point being that this is the first post that you have made in a positive note that you are somewhat happy with the machine?...(if I am wrong I apologize ..I may have missed a previous post)

With that being said this is in by no mean's a "brand Loyal" post..I have had Old ford's, New holland,David Brown, Case ,International ,Belarus ,currently have 3 Massey's and a JD.and a few more tracked machine's for good measure. A manual mean's relatively nothing to me,Mine is still in the envelope with the rest of the papers on the shelf in the other room..the other's in the tractor arsenal if you can find a manual are non exsistent...

To quote your earlier post.."Whatever turn's your crank"...I really don't care either..Have a great day on 49 N of Grass Valley...(My old stomping ground's)

I would think Mahindra could add to the prices of their products and make a color glossy manual with everything one would need to service, repair, and overhaul all in one manual. Make the product the same price of JDs and the Ferraris and give the buyers the manual for free. Then who would buy that product? I never buy a product by asking.......................let me see the manual first. I'm not buying the product for swift looking, information overloaded, manuals. I'm buying the product to work. But then I am a mechanic and know how to talk with mechanics when I have a problem. Some people don't and pay extra for talking "to" mechanics.

This reminds me of the sign that was posted in the first hangar I worked in.
Shop rate......................................$20 per hour
You watch ....................................$25 per hour
You watch and ask questions...........$30 per hour
You help.......................................$35 per hour
You help then we redo it.................$40 per hour.

Actually mine machine was made by Mitsubishi. Mitsu makes the 1500 series while TYM makes the 2500 machines. The Mitsu is supposed to be a little nicer. Like I said I like the machine just not the manuals nor what seems to be Mahindras attitude. I know manuals aren't hard to do because I've done a few in my day and there is absolutely no reason whatsoever for Mahindra not to have good service info accessible and avaliable to owners on their website. They did once a few years ago. Most of the data needed for service info and manuals is already avaliable. They have to have it to build the tractors. All it takes is a copy of Adobe Acrobat to put it together into decent service and or operators manuals. If you want a hard copy, just hit the print button. It really is easy to do. The reasons aren't because they can't nor is it expensive, it's simply a conscious choice on their part and that is why I'm so adamant and vocal about it. Chaulk it up as a bad attitude which is not good for us or for them. I actually want them to succeed. I watched what happened to Detroit when they got a dose of attitude problems.

BTW I'm a little off 49, you take hwy 20 to my place which jogs east from Nevada City. Where were you up here?

Dick,
Fly on over here to Htown and talk to Mahindra about what you want. I'll get the popcorn.

Good idea Brandi! It's an impressive sight to see those hundreds, if not thousands of tractors in that huge lot.

Dick - I'll pick you up at the airport and we can go see Brandon together. Only 20 minutes from airport on Jackrabbit road. I've sent him a few suggestions via email too. (And admittedly the manual on the 2538 was one of them...) :p

Yes,
It is a really impressive place. Shiny paint and the smell of new rubber everywhere. I like the hard hat worn by one employee, it is in the shape of a cowboy hat. The name, Brandon, does not ring a bell. What department is he in?
hugs, Brandi
