sub soiler, can this be used to "edge around" small trees and bushes no more than say 6" ?? that have been cut flush to the ground ? I am trying to prepare a garden area. If this is to vague I will provide more info.

Are we to understand that your intention is to rip out the roots at some smallish distance from the remainder (stumps) of the small trees and bushes? If so, then I would say yes, qualifying that to mean going slow enough so that the tractor operator will be able to sense when the load is becoming too great so as to prevent destruction of the subsoiler without stalling the tractor.

Yes grub out remove from ground. I had the opportunity late yesterday to speak with an old farmer whom suggested doing it when the ground was (soft) Thank You for the replies and safety tip.

Depends on your tractor....I pull 12-14" stumps with the subsoiler on my 3520. Just takes some time...work around the stump pulling roots and eventually you'll get it.

Anything less the 6" is a single pull...drop the subsoiler directly behind the stump, drop it and pull...pop em right out.
My ground is VERY sandy so that helps.

Pulling in moist dirt does make it easier, BUT if too wet, you'll create a huge mess which will dry into a concrete like material. Not a huge problem if you have a tiller...
