H /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gifow long does it take to fill up with one of those hand pumps?

I bought one and seem to recall it was a pint or cup per stroke (pumps on the pull stroke.) 5 gallons = 40-80 strokes. It took so long I put it away and resumed pouring fuel. I guess I am too impatient. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Thanks for all the info on the pump. I may run to TSC today, and take a look at it. Sounds like it got good to mixed reviews. Putting the can on the step makes good sense. Thanks again.

Hi Solo,

I don't know much about the non-deluxe models, but it would make more sense to have a 2 stage clutch. As far as weight, have you added weight to the tires? I added close to 250lbs to my tractor by adding washer fluid to the rear tires. Helps a lot with traction, and keeping the tractor on the ground. Great suggestions.

I've never thought pouring fuel in was very hard. If it was on the side, then wouldn't the FEL be in the way even more (unless the FEL was raised up, which would be dangerous). Where else would you put it? I guess for me it's so much easier that the John Deere B I grew up driving, which is pretty far up there so it's quite a reach, that it seems easy on the Boomer. I agree that a can with a stiff spout is much easier that a flexible one. I just put my foot on the front tire and rest the can on my knee while it's pouring.

I agree with the loose bolts problem. I had a few loose on the wheels!

I don't like separate pedals for the hydro drive and I like the rocker hydro pedal. I like having it on the right. But, it's nearly impossible to brake steer. My solution would be to leave the hydro pedal where it is and have the brakes on the left and the clutch on the right. I know it would seem strange to have the clutch on the right, but on a hydro it's really not used the way a clutch normally is used. With a hydro, there's never any reason to use the clutch and the hydro pedal at the same time and the only time the clutch is used is to engage and disengage the PTO, or make and emergency stop of the drive and PTO. Brake steering would be easy. Another solution would be to move the hydro pedal to the left, but I'm also much more coordinated on my right foot. Now that I think about it, maybe the best solution would be to leave the hydro pedal on the right and add one to the left! Then, to brake steer you could use the one on the left and it would be easier when your looking over your left shoulder backing up, which is kind of awkward with the hydro pedal on the right.

I would change the way the ROPS flips down. I'm not sure how it is on the Class I and III, but the Class II has pins that go in some brackets that stick out on the front of the ROPS which are right in line with the back of my head if I lean back and off to one side. Plus, those pins rattle, which is annoying.

I can't think of anything else I would change!

Re: Suggestions for changes in our TC Series Tract

I've got a TC45 non-D .. I'd like to see a full set of gauges -- oil press, temp, alt, and hyd press / level? maybe? Can't believe it would cost 'em that much either - or require any design work.

Re: Suggestions for changes in our TC Series Tract

I agree with more guages. I would like to see a speedometer and a 4wd indicator so you can see if you forgot to take it out of 4wd without turning and checkin all the time which i seem to keep doing. The manuel has speed charts with RPM's in such in but with ag tires and you have to do math and stuff for R4.

I have all 4 tires loaded, plus 160 lbs. of suitcase weights on the front. Still seems a little lite.

Solo: Re 2 stage clutch. NH doesn't use them but JD does. Worst case 2 stage clutch replacement = $2000. Worst case single stage clutch replacement = $1100. Are you sure you want a 2 stage???

mikim: You can add guages across the cowling fairly easily. I had dealer add a triple guage pack to my TC40 before it was delivered. See attached pic.

FWIW, my TC-29 is gear-driven and has a two-stage clutch providing me with live PTO. Believe this was only an option on the geared 29s at the time I purchased the unit.
