Sunday noise

Sunday is kinda laid back here; we live in a suburban area, about 1/4 mile from the nearest church. I sometimes mow on Sunday, but only in the afternoon.

I was born in 1952 and raised in northeastern NC. The only thing you heard on Sunday morning was a rooster crow, and the church bells from all the little churches around, it was so peaceful. People just don't understand the value of not being entertained.

The church I attend is 2.5 miles from my house. We have 3 others within 2 miles. I am in the Bible belt. Pretty much everything shuts down on Sunday in my area. That's OK by me. If someone mows or does something it's afternoon.

Never lived close enough to a church for their noise to bother me.

When I have work that needs to be done, if I have the time and if mother nature is working in my favor, I am going to do that work. I don't give two hoots who sees or hears me.

Our "back" neighbor, about 600 yards away, is a gun freak. As in regular house-rattling explosions. I think he has a "recreational" cannon or something. I dislike it, but we ARE in the country, and I respect his right to whatever legal activities he chooses. He usually plays on Saturdays, but occasionally on Sundays. I really wish he would refrain on Sundays. I guess he actually does, since his Sunday play has been infrequent.

wonderful timing, I am now being serenaded at 5pm on Sunday by what must be the local response to a widespread alien invasion. Boom boom boom boom. ok, better at 5pm than 5am, but with hunting season coming in, folks have to practice sometime. Geez, how do they get them to fire so fast, bam bam bam bam bam
As long as lead isn't flying in my direction, fine. I want those hunters to mow down every deer in the township.
So here's some serious Sunday noise that to some might be really upsetting. Bill, they're shooting at us!! Do Something!

If the lights really go out, I'm going to be glad a few of you have retained your hunting skills.

Actually paid attention today while I was working outside and the noise level definitely picked up after lunch. So with a variety of mowers and leaf blowers going, I fired up the Massey and mowed my fields. Lovely day out.

I have the same kind of neighbor, fires a cannon sometimes as late as midnight but he likes to sleep till 1000 since he works the evening shift, has done this for the past few years but recently added a baby to the family so it has stopped for now... He is about 200 yards away from the edge of my property so I have added a mule and a few ear-piecing donkeys to my animal population, Eeyore (one of the donkeys) can wake the dead when he gets going and we go feed at 5am and my wife teases him with feed and that really sets him off.

A few weeks ago, met my neighbor at the corner of my property and asked him how the baby is doing, he said they were having trouble sleeping due all the noise from the new animals I have, I told him I had not noticed but the loud explosions seemed to have stopped. He admitted he needed to be more considerate, so I told him I would move Eeyore to another property but would retain his services if needed.

Noise is in the eye of the listener I guess...

Kris Kristofferson had the best discription for Sunday morning in the song- Sunday Morning Comin' Down.
He was definitely writing/singing about times gone by.
