Super UDT - Not UDT

It's true that I was speed reading, but I didn't miss it - it just didn't go with my joke. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I found an auto wholesaler that my son works for that distributes Amsoil here in Ft. Worth as well as a couple of real synthetics. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I'd like to know a little more about those "real synthetics". They must be good stuff. I'm not above switching if somebody comes out with something better... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

They do heavy gear and axle work and use a ton of synthetic. I really think they use a lot of the Amsoil. I think he was just pulling your chain. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Chain??!! Did somebody say "chain"??!! Did I ever tell you I'm a nut about chain?

Seriously, there are a lot of synthetics out there besides Amsoil. It wouldn't surprise me if some of them are better than Amsoil, but I wouldn't know where to begin trying to pin down which ones. I know of some that are a fair bit more expensive, and that makes them a little too expensive to suit me. Amsoil is bad enough. If it's more than that, they'd better have some serious evidence that it's better, and I haven't seen it.

I posted a message quite a few months ago about stopping at a Kubota dealer to ask about Super UDT (shortly after buying my B2710 from another dealer) and the dealer had never heard of Super UDT. Well, today I stopped by the dealer, from whom I bought both my tractors. They had certainly heard of Super UDT, but don't use it and don't stock it; just order it if a customer wants it.

When I required some fluid (early July or late June?), dealer only had UDT and said that they used/stocked only UDT. So I bought it. Simply figured it is one of those supply-side problems (Kubota changed the specifications before the supplier inventory/distribution existed). If I have problems, it was my dealer that told me it was OK.

The advantages, real or perceived are argueable but I don't think anyone is debating that the two should not be mixed, did you flush yours and put UDT in or dump it in with the "super"? That's assuming it even had "super" to begin with!

I really don't know whether my tractor came with UDT or Super UDT (I suspect the regular UDT), but anyway when I changed it at 50 hours, it got UDT, and I had put gear oil in the front axle case, but after reading some of the discussions on the forum, talking to the dealer, and thinking about it some more, I drained it again and put UDT in the front axle case, too, this past week.

I had thought of the mixing issue, but really wasn't concerned because it was going in real soon (at that time) for the 50-hour maintenance. Sure enough, less that 3 hours-use later, the system was drained/filled with UDT by the dealer. So now I have a supply of fluid that matches what the factory-authorized dealer put in.
