He sure is, it was taken out of the window in our breakfast area. We have had up to thirteen deer in our back yard where I have our pistol range.

My wife and I enjoy watching them as do our kids and grand kids.

Fortunately every state has a pretty diverse population from backwoods to urbanites and I see that as a good thing.

My aunt has a Ph.D in Linguistics and did some research on the influence of Acadians and the slave trade as well as other factors on word usage, variations, phrases etc., she really enjoyed her time there and I got to listen to a lot of Zydeco music.

Its actually pretty easy to pull a large gator through the swamp. Their belly is fairly slick and its like pulling a sled.

When the gator is in water it is almost floating so it isn't as hard to pull into the boat as you might think. If it weighs 75 pounds per foot you are only pulling in a foot at a time and the rest is floating in water. When half the gator is in the boat you can roll it and its own weight will pull in the other half.

I've never pulled in one over 8 feet but I can do that by myself if the boat is big enough not to tip.

Why waste a $1 30/06 shell when a 5 cent 22 will do? Besides you don't want to damage the skull too much because there is a market for these also. Nothing on the gator goes to waste.

I'm gonna agree with you on that. I used to work as a lifeguard on a man-made whitewater course in South Bend, Indiana. It emptied into a river. People would fall out of their innertubes and go bobbing down the river and we'd have to go get them in a Zodiac boat. Some of them big fellers were 300+ pounds. As long as you keep them low you can roll them up into the boat. But the macho dudes would always resist and try to get into the boat themselves by attempting to hop out of the water onto the side tube of the inflatable boat. That is when they realized they could not lift 300 pounds of themselves with their forearms. I imagine it would be similar with a large gator. If you are in a boat holding onto a line attached to a gator that is swimming, all the force you are really feeling is the resistance of the boat being dragged through the water. Now once you get on the same solid surface with that thing, I imagine a person would have a much tougher time with a gator VS it being in water.

Personally, I like the show. Yeah, some of them have ugly shirts and talk funny. But you get that here in Indiana, too.

The one that intigues me most is Willie. As he put it last week, he has treble hook fever. I can't imaging the rush it would be to snag an alligator with a treble hook an then to have your hands the line. Man, that would be something.

Here's a link to a page that gives a little background about most of this season's cast.

I too thoroughly enjoy this show, but now that the 3rd season has started, I'm starting to see some things that seem "fake" and that kind of bothers me. From the beginning I was sure that some of that was done for TV but now I'm seeing more things that give me pause.

My one question is, why not use a .22 mag pistol as opposed to a rifle. Willie used one for awhile and it seemed to be a lot easier to handle and use. But now, he's back to the rifle.

And I'll not address the comment asking where PETA is when you need them. If you can't figure out that the unchecked population of creatures like alligators is a dangerous thing, then you've got a lot of issues to work through on your own.

It's already dramatized, but still a good show. Anything with cajuns is usually good.

I hope they don't ruin it by overly dramatizing.

And if you watch Swamp People, Duck Dynasty premiers tonight. Another Louisiana "country boy" film series which I am sure will be a little dramatized for TV.

You don't have to get your hands and arms as close to the gator with a rifle as you would with a pistol.
