The BX sucks air from the cab area, and pushes it out the front, that is the only down-side, it would be like having an exhaust fan running sucking the air in the cab through the engine compartment.
If the fan was reversed for the winter you just might get enough heat to make it workable?

how do you reverce a fan? If you bolt it on bachwards it still blows the same direction........Larry

Foolish me, I thought the fan was electric. A quick look today shows it's mechanical. I suspect it would be cheaper to install an electric fan than to add a dedicated heater. Me, I just put the heavy coat on and work faster. :)

At the bottom of the grill there are 2 plastics just under the battery that you have to remove, so the air will come from there and not from the cab trough the grill.

absolutely beautiful! Everytime i see my neighbor out in his kubota with the cab and snowblower going, makes me wsih i had a cab. Could you go into more detail about the floor underlayment you used for siding the cab?

I know what my summer project is going to be!

The floor underlayment that was used is 'Luan'. It's typical use would be to create a smooth surface to install floor covering such as linoleum. This wood product (luan) was used (rather than sheet metal) to create a 'thermal break'. A 'thermal break' meaning, to decrease the amount of 'cold' being transferred to the inside of the cab.

We don't have much snow; but there was more than I felt like hand shoveling, so I was using the tractor today. It was 24-degrees F and I was miserable. My hands and feet are sensitive to the cold and after 1/2 an hour I was done...the driveway wasn't, and the chemical air activated hand warmers didn't do diddly other than squirm around inside my gloves.

I sure could have used a heated cab!

mjncad,
If you are sensitive like that, you might want to try the battery powered gloves (and socks too). I am told the newer ones, nowadays, work pretty well.

Luaun plywood is also pretty inexpensive, and can be cut and shaped easily.

I didn't realize it was luaun until this last post, by saying 'underlayment' I thought it was like hardboard underlayment. Luaun is easily worked and accepts waterproofing, paint and stain very well. it is not rated for exterior applications, but with proper care and storage it would last a good long time.

If you were going to have to leave the cab outdoors year round, then you might consider sheet metal or something that will weather better.

I do snowmobile and ATV during winter time and I use those warming stuffs and they work great but there is noting like snow blowing in a cab well heated during a snowstorm.
