I hope they have found your problem because you have had quite the saga, let us know for sure.

I had an intermittent lift pump on a diesel a few years back. It would pump for a bit, then suck air. I too was skeptical of the mechanics diagnosis, but he turned out to be right.

I don't believe the T1520 has a lift pump. It does have an injection pump, is that worth checking over?

There is nothing really that you can check on an injector pump at home. I've fixed a bunch of them where the orifice got plugged with junk before but other than that there's nothing else user fixable on them.

If your tank is well above then it's possible it doesn't have a lift pump. A lot of older ones didn't. Most newer ones do though. If you can follow the fuel line from your tank to the injection pump and don't see a little automotive type fuel pump then you don't have one. In that case I'd bet you have something clogged up either in the fuel line or maybe in your tank.

I sure hope they diagnosed mine right too. I only talked to the one salesman that I have been dealing with there for a very short time. He's the one that told me it was fixed and he thought they were going to bring it back this morning. I asked him to go make sure it would run at full throttle for at least 30 minutes without smoking or stalling and it's after 5 now and I haven't heard anything or seen my tractor.
That's not a good sign.

Turns out it's a clogged fuel tank, it has just enough flow to allow the tractor to run for about 5 minutes. I drained the tank and blew some air into the pipe leading to the fuel tank and heard some stuff move around, shortly after a whole bunch more fuel came out. After doing this the tractor ran well for about an hour before clogging up again. Are there any good, easy methods for cleaning out a tank, or am I better off sending it to the shop to get a new fuel tank?
