Taking In Used Tractor -- What To Care For First?

I hear tell one can float going forward too, but I've never been able to get it to work for my tractor?!:confused2::confused3:
It works fine on our Kubotas, another sign that Kubota is better than Kioti  :stirthepot:.
Joking aside, the bucket angle has to be just right. If its not just right, it will either dig in or float over the top.

Coyote, that is the key as stated above.. I was successfully using the bucket in float on the last snow to clean with, but it is tricky, getting the angle just right. I hadn't had a lot of luck before moving forward, but maybe I did not give it proper attention. But it worked pretty good this time in the snow. So yes the ole 'yote will do it too.

D'oh, yes, float was what I was referring to! I'll see if I can dig up some more info on it later.

Yeah, guess I will have to keep looking to get the angle right! Quote: '...it will either dig in or float over the top', isn't that what one is looking for? It to float over the top?
Guess kubota will have to keep looking for something it can do that Kioti's can't do as well or better!:pawprint:

Do you think it's possible to float a plow blade?

I don't have the experience to know, but I don't see why not.

The plow blade on our BX2660 floats quite happily when I put the lift circuit into float.

Aaron Z

Are you referring to the curl circuit? If so, can you describe exactly how you get the plow blade to float? For instance, do you push all the way down before the blade contacts the snow surface or after?

We have the Kubota frame mounted plow on the BX. The circuit that would run the loader up/down runs the plow lift. I just push forward on the joystick and it locks into float mode no matter where the blade is vertically. The loader on the B7500 works the same way.
It also has regen on the curl circuit (used to angle the blade).
Here is a picture of a BX2230 with a similar setup: Michigan Sales Used Kubota BX2230 Tractor | Michigan Sales – Get A Tractor

I think you mean float? If it has that, the lever to lift the bucket should "stick" in the "lower" position, but the "sticking" mechanism might be stuck in the "non-stick" position. :D
If you can get a picture of the make/model/serial number on the valve someone can probably dig up a manufacturers spec sheet which will say what features it should have.

Aaron Z

I will put that on my list to check for on Saturday, I have some work to do out there. I'm guessing if it is "stuck", then taking apart that canister thingy would be involved in unsticking?

I haven't gotten the diff lock to work either, it still won't budge. That's pretty far down the list though, I don't have really any dodgy wet areas (except for one that got damaged but the house builder has been commanded to fix it, grrrrr, don't mess up established, functioning, vegetated drainage ways on hydrology biologist's land, dangit!).

I did lift the front wheels off the ground when it was supposedly in 4WD (it just feels like it is when I'm driving) just pushing the FEL down for a minute. I could turn the front wheels a bit by myself with back wheels still on ground, although that probably doesn't tell me anything, does it? They did not spin freely, I could push them maybe 4" around (I didn't want to man-handle it).

Generally speaking, if its in 4wd with the front off the ground and the rears on the ground, the wheels should not let you spin them both in the same direction (or spin one while the other is held still). If its in 2wd that shouldn't be a problem.
