Sound like you're figuring it out. At this point pride will be your worst enemy. Keep your head down and your nose to the grindstone. Keep up with being in the right place all the time, and remember that there's always something to learn from anyone no matter how green they are or how long you've known them. Remember this advice and you'll go far. You have a lot of potential where you've caught the bug as young as you have.

Pictures?!? :D

I've definitely been bit by the bug, and can now think of nothing else. I love doing this stuff, even waking up at 2:30am from a dead sleep, and running full on to get my gear on. I reccomend it to anyone with leadership ability, the want to help people, or those who maybe have not found something that keeps them out of trouble and with plenty of extended family.

Cool!

We(Volunteers) take second out engines. Most are older. The primary stations in our dristrict are staffed, so they get the latest. Although some, like the first out at my station, are almost 10 years old...

Three of us are staffing in Placerville Saturday, while the first out engine is at the opening of the new ER at the local hospital. Will have to take a couple pics.

Well, we except the brush truck, we haven't gotten a really good new piece since the 1993 Pierce. The ony reason we gotthe brush truck was because the Jeep burned up. The 2002 Spartan was built on a budget and has had small little problems since new, and a constant problem with the turbo. However, we will be getting a 2012 Spartan Pumper/Tanker, tandem axle, 2500 gallon tank, 1500 gpm pump, and a full set of extrication tools, and everything else will come off the Pierce, that it is replacing.

We've been through that discussion in my local district, too... Tanker vs. Tender.

Ya. It was a cool picture though :D I was not on the fire in Foresthill a few weeks ago, but was nearby. Saw the DC10 "tanker" shuttle back/forth from the tactical base at the old McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento to refill. Talked to folks that have seen those drops; impressive!

Covered Placerville while primary engine was at the grand opening of the new ER at the local hospital. I did not get a picture of E225, at the left of the picture. Both engines were originally from my primary station, before consolidation 15 years ago.

E228 is an '89 Ford/Beck.
