Re: TBN\'s first Power Trac now has a new home...

Congratulations! PTRich's posts were also pivotal in my purchasing a 425.

The wall mount for the fire extinguisher is held on with duct tape. That might be my first upgrade -- to substitute hose clamps... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: TBN\'s first Power Trac now has a new home...

The duct tape might be stronger than the wall clamp to cylinder attachment. Please let me know how this works. Does the cylinder come off the wall mount when you drive over rough terrain?

Rich said it had been on there a couple of years, so it seems pretty durable.. it's military issue duct tape, if that makes a difference.

What type of fire extinguisher is it. Is it just a normal one.

Tracdoc posted in the last month that he was selling his fairly new (2004) 48" mower because he wanted to buy a 60" mower (that might be the one advertised on the power trac website). Maybe he would be interested in a swap.

48" mower deck for sale thread

I might be interested in the blade, although I barely have two nickels to rub together after purchasing my PT422 last month.

If you're interested in the blade, let me know. You live fairly close, and we could work something out. I live just north of Sturbridge MA, where I-84 meets the Masspike.

Re: TBN\'s first Power Trac now has a new home...

Kent, you going to be keeping the B6000?

Pity we dont have PT in the UK, because I sure would be interested. Looks like a great buy, 250 hours is nothing.

PS, think you should start a thread about your other tractors, would like to see the cab tractor for ideas.
Have fun!
Thanks

Re: TBN\'s first Power Trac now has a new home...

Nope -- the Kubota is going up for sale as soon as I can get it back up here in couple weeks... which is kinda sad. It's a neat little machine, but nothing like a PT...

Here's some links to pics of my 3112 with the cab on it, earning its keep in New England winters:
Blowing in the wind
Pulses of single stage blower
How deep does it get?
Going for distance
Out of the wind
Who says single-stage blowers don't work?

Good cab picture

Here's a couple of summertime pics of the tractor -- an all-original 1969 model Simplicity 3112V. That's 12HP throwing all that snow with a 42" snowblower, above, or driving this 48" deck. It mows comparable to commercial machines, even powering and pulling a 26 bushel vacuum cart.
Beauty shot

Here's its counterpart in a different color, a 1969 Allis-Chalmers that's been "upgraded" to a hydro transmission and 16HP. It's nice have two equivalent tractors with about a dozen interchangeable attachments...

Re: TBN\'s first Power Trac now has a new home...

Those pictures really make me want to buy a snowblower for my PT... especially after last winter. Pretty high $$$ item, though, and my driveway is only about 50' long, so I don't think SWMBO could be easily swayed.

If you can only have ONE attachment for New England snow, then I recommend the blade instead of the blower. If you get a deep snow, you'll have to plow it every 6"-8" of accumulation, but with some of the mixed "slush" we can get -- especially closer to the coast -- snowblowers don't work nearly as well. I use a blade on one tractor and a blower on the other, so then I'm prepared for anything -- including mechanical breakdowns...
