"On a differnt note: Does your main Haudraulic pump make a noise when cold (0 C) until the tractor warmed up?"
mine does have this same moneing noise and you can sense the chaddering in the handle to the loader from id say 30 down is louder and stay longer the colder it is out side my dealer told me a different better oil would help that haven't had a chance to do it yet

Good evening guys!
I know there is a special thinner hydraulic oil for that and I will switch to it after the first hydraulic oil change. I do love my TC55DA and I love it even more once my cab is on there for snowblowing. Other than that I don't feel anything chatter on the handle for the loader. Just a funny whining noise off that main hydraulic pump as long as the oil is cold. Once she is warm, gone the noise is.
Anyhow, back to the actual power steering problem:
Would a lighter oil maybe do the trick?

Welcome to TBN!

What kind of problem? With or without weight in the bucket? What RPM's?

Most common problem if steering is sluggish: low air pressure in the front tires.

We can probably help with more information....

Thanks the problem is any amount of weight in the bucket, the turning range is dramatically decreased. The weight can be as little as a half of bucket of dry gravel. When this is done, I lose ninety-five (95) percent of my steering capability while at a stand still. more than just not being able to steer standing still. problems steering while the bucket is full, empty or off it will turn only so far to the right or left then when you move it turns further making hard to work with in tight spot my dealer has tested all psi and it at the max according to NH spec. ps the tire are loaded and it has a counter weiaght on the 3 pt hitch the more I use it the worse it gets just wondering if any other tc 55 owners have this thanks again

Thanks

It sounds like YOU are doing everything properly. Is it better in 2WD than 4WD?

Besides testing line pressures, has your dealer actually driven it under the loaded conditions you describe?

It almost sounds like something is "catching" when the geometry changes under load... Bent steering cylinder...?

Just some ideas...

It would be good if you could drive a different one at the dealer's lot under similar conditions to see whether there is a problem with yours or if it a characteristic of the model. I have to believe there is a problem....

Good luck!

Something is definately very wrong. I have a 2120 (same basic tractor) and do heavy loader work without any steering problem.

( ...more than just not being able to steer standing still. problems steering while the bucket is full, empty or off it will turn only so far to the right or left then when you move it turns further making hard to work with in tight spot.... )

On tractors with large diameter front tires and large industrial loaders it is common to be able to turn the front wheels while having a loaded bucket and not moving. In my experience, the Class III tractors are not able to move the front wheels while not moving if you are in loose soil. This may also be true with the Class IVs. They can be turned on concrete, but not in loose or soft soil. Slow movement, however, does allow the front wheels to turn. That sounds like what you are describing and if you are used to a heavy duty tractor/loader the TC55 might not perform as you'd expect.

Several years ago a gent who went by the tag name "DieselPower" was very indignant about our tractor's inability to turn the wheels as you describe under the loader's full or partially full weight. I never have trouble steering my tractor, but maybe I've just become used to it. I do know that many heavy tractors I've operated would dig a ditch with the front wheels if the bucket was loaded, but that's just not the case with my current tractor.

Andy, will your 2120 turn it's front wheels in loose dirt with the bucket loaded? If so, it probably has a much stronger PS pump than the newer tractors.

2120s are fine.and one would think that its new replacement would only go forward and be better. I have now found 3 more TC55 with this same problem 2wd or 4wd same and at any rpm just will not turn. N H is just saying they know but they do not have a fix for it and are not looking in to it at this time . I would just like to see how many more customers of NH and Case have this problem and let them know how many are doing it. My dealer has done all thay can do for me "witch was a lot " now its up to NH to find the cure I think a bigger piston or two cylinders would fix for this hay super steer would do it too on thing for sure a backhoe on the back seems to fix it i just have no use for one thanks for all the input

Thanks

I have a Class III Boomer with the SuperSteer option. You are most welcome to come here yourself and try to slow the steering down on my rig with a fully loaded bucket in any soil condition that you choose, it isn't going to happen. Most of the time I steer using the steering wheel spinner only, single handed with the capable 17LA loader.

That's the main reason we chose the option in the 1st place. I hope you are able to work through your problems. Personally if it were mine I would trade it for a SuperSteer model and move forward.

The TC55 doesn't come with supersteer. He would have to drop down to the TC45 to get supersteer.
