I had a major casualty this morning on my TC21. I was clearing my fence line and I stopped to cut some brush with my chain saw and noticed a puddle of oil. I went back and checked the tractor to find a major leak coming from the housing just forward of the mid-mount pto. I knew it wasn't good at that point and had my neighbor help pull it out of the pasture. After cleaning it up a bit, I found a major crack in the housing. All fluid had drained in about a half hour. The dealer came and picked it up this afternoon, now just waiting for the call to see how it will all work out. Hopefully will be warranty repair.

From the photo, it may have been leaking for a while.

No, it had not leaked at all before. It kind of spewed everywhere after this. I wiped the crack area down just before the photo. Also, I forgot to post earlier 227 hours on the clock.

Good luck; I would think it it is a warranty issue. Hope your dealer is going to work with you.

It is a 2005 model. I bought it new in August of 2006.

You do anything big with the loader recently?

Pulling brush that I was clearing. Anything over 3 inches was cut by saw and pulled out with the loader. Smaller stuff was popped out with loader and toothbar.

Hmm.. maybee factory defect that just opened.. hard to say wiothout seeing a cross section and looking at other stress and mounting points.

wow, sorry to see that. It is obvious that the crack started on top and went down vertically as the crack seem to be smaller on the bottom. If 4 tires are on the ground it is quite difficult to cause any stress on top to cause a hairline fracture like that. I can see potential for damage like that if you had a full bucket , going fast and dropping the front wheels in some sort of hole or bouncing full loader bucket up and down on some rough terrain. I certainly would not rule our a bad cast. Do you have a same crack on the opposite side? or one side only?

No crack on the other side, nor does it go across the bottom. The crack is wide enough to get a fingernail all the way in.

That leads me to believe some twisting forces were the culprit but more so a bad cast. I hope it ends up being a warranty item.

I am still waiting for the dealer to get back to me, I was told it wouldn't be fully torn down until sometime this week. I am currently in California for school and haven't heard anything yet. I will post updates as received.
