Glow Plug Timer Troubleshooting.

I don't know if this any help, but I too have a TC33D with a glow plug light that acts like it has a mind of it's own. I have noticed that even with the light not operating that the timer still seems to be ok. I can hear an audible click when it cuts off the power to the glow plugs. I've learned to just listen for the click noise before I fire it up. May not be your problem, but I wanted to throw it out there just in case.

I couldn't tell from the diagram if the relays were on the right or left but on the 03 33D they're behind the right kick panel (or knee banger as PineRidge put it).

ohmboy has a good suggestion to listen for the click, I sometime glance at the light but listen for the click more often than watch the light. If it's cutting out to quick, I would probably replace that before the ignition switch.

I had the same glow plug problem. I replaced the glow plug timer relay first, which did not solve the problem. Replacing the ignition switch did fix it.
