I replaced the starter yesterday because the bendics wasnt always engaging and the shop i brought it to said the windings where falling out anyway.
Now it is turning over but wont start checked for power at glow plugs 12v when light is on then goes to zero when light goes out.checked for power at the fuel solenoid have 12 with switch on but not sure exactly how to test the solenoid itself or get it out.should i be ale to feel it engage with hand on it while turning ignition on

Thanks for the help I've already been impressed

Start with the simple things first:
Must be out of PTO
Must be in neutral (Forward / reverse shifter)
Must be sitting in seat OR brakes locked on

Some one a few threads back found his safety wires under seat were disconnected. Check them also.

If the engine is turning over it means that all the primary safety interlocks are operational. With diesels, turning over without starting is a fuel delivery problem. Has the tractor been running recently? At the risk of being insulting, is there enough diesel fuel? Did you change the fuel filter (if so, you need to bleed the lines). Is the valve on the top of the fuel filter turned off? Loose wires to the fuel solenoid? Seat switch disconnected?

Yes it has been running recently but has started hard.I have plenty of fuel and the filter looks good and has fuel in the bowl.although i am will change the filter for it is a new tractor to me.the fuel solenoid has power bur i dont feel or hear anything while trying to start.Another thing I have on order is ignition switch I think this one is ok but i did notice that when it does start that i manually move it back a bit to disengage the starter.I have recently changed the oil and hydraulic fluid along with the three filters but the starter was out at the time. i know right now it is a bit short on hydro fluid for i didnt want to over fill knowing the filters where empty but i dont think there is a safety switch for that plus the fluid registers on the dip stick.

Check this thread from last week. Sounds like same problem. Seat switch will cause engine to turn but not start.

Jinman had a good checklist to get it going as well as DocHeb! Between both of them, it should work!

Good Luck.....keep us posted when it starts!

Jinman defiantely knows and i have read alot of his answers but i have tested the seat switch and i believe it would shut off power to the fuel solenoid

Have you checked the resistance of the coil on the fuel shut off solenoid? Having a reasonable resistance doesn't prove it is good, but if the resistance is real high it proves it is bad.
