Tractor
New Holland TC 45
Hello, i am new tonthe forum but have lurked for awhile reading up on similar issues that I have or had.

I have a TC45 (unknown year) that just recently developed a problem where the fuel bowl does not remain full. This usually happens when the tractor is under load using the PTO and high RPMs.

I have searched and read several of the posts and replaced or cleaned the following items:

Fuel tank drained and cleaned several times
New fuel lines (primary and return)
New gasket at fuel sending unit
New fuel filter (2-3)
New fuel assembly
New gas cap
and the fuel lines were replaced on the "t" junction above the fuel assembly unit.

I do have a small leak at the left most injector. Under high RPMs fuel leaks out of it. Not sure if that could be causing my problem or if there is a problem with the fuel lift pump. I don't have a loss of power while using the tractor, starts and runs fine. When first starting, the tractor surges for about 2-3 minutes then evens out, has done this since i got it last year....I am at a loss on where to go next

The "tee junction" above the fuel filter. try this next. That hose from the filter base to the tee fitting. Pinch it flat closed with vise grips and two flat washers. Run the tractor as usual and see what happens.

I will give it a shot and see what happens

Does your tractor have a lift pump? Is it working?
It does, its located right behind the fuelnfilter assembly and I believe it is working. How would you check?

Take the fuel line off, say right before the filter, turn the key on and you’ll know if it’s working. That’s also a good way to check for a plugged outlet in the tank.

It’s not an electric lift pump, so that won’t test anything.

Your idea is very valid for an engine with an electric lift pump.

Thank you Harry! I finally had a chance to try your suggestion and the fuel bowl is staying full. I will give it a good testing on Friday, have some areas to brush hog, but I believe it will work! Thanks again
