Charlie,

What are your likes and dislikes so far? Are you going to post a review in the review section any time soon?

( None of the implements or attachments I use or plan to use would be affected by that small increase in Hp (achieved with turbo aspiration)

The '48 lists a higher capacity hydro pump (dont understand this) )

I guess the dollars are more of an issue than I thought. I'm reminded of a quote by John Miller III, who used to be a prolific poster and expert. One of his favorite sayings was (paraphrased here) that over the life of a tractor, a couple thousand bucks ain't spit. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Now, I'm not saying that, but I do think there will be many less TC48s sold than TC55s. I also think if NH had only had the TC55, nobody would complain. But hey... I'm looking at this from the aspect of a company planning to market a product. I just think the TC48 will be harder to sell than the TC55. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I noticed you don't have a loader listed in your profile and none of your 3PH implements require the 3,500# lift capacity of the Class IVs. I'm curious why you didn't buy a gear TC45 and save even more money?

I noticed the puzzling difference in the hydraulic specs the first time I saw data on the two new tractors. Could the ESS transmission use some of the hydraulic flow for control power? That's the only thing that makes sense to me. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Whatever happened to John Miller? Have not seen a post from him since last fall.

I traded my 2120 two and a half months ago. I have about 40 hours on the 48. While this is not enough time for a well formed opinion I am generally happy so far. The seat hinge bolt came loose once, (Rather disconcerting) and had a small sapling shut down the fuel shut off valve. Was very low on fuel anyways and thought I had run it out. Carried a gas can and added two gallons. Supposed to be self bleeding but still no go. Popped the top to manually bleed and noticed the shut off was turned to almost off. (OK my wife noticed it) Anyways that area seems more exposed then it should be.
I dont particularly like the location of the brake set but am getting used to it. Everything else is well so far.

I do miss the hydro shuttle a little but I guess I just need to get used to being more diligent with the clutch.

Regards,
Charlie

If I remember correctly the turbo has a lower high idle (top speed). Hydraulic pressure is constant accross the entire rpm range, but flow is proportional to engine speed.

I think it has a slower top road speed as well.

Charlie,

The tc55 lists slightly less hydraulic flow than the tc48 however, the specs are listed at less engine speed for the 55 by 100 RPM. I belive they both share the same hydro pumps.

Doug,
Thanks for the info. I think I only approach the limits of my machine in lifting and carrying with the bucket or forks. I may have made a poor choice in the 48 over the 55 but I prefer to remain under the delusion that the 48 is a good fit for me.

Happy as a clam. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

hey....i have a tc48. didnt want a turbo, didnt want to spend any more money, but wanted the biggest backhoe i could get. the tc48 is the smallest tractor that would take a 759c . I STILL LOVE MY "LITTLE" TRACTOR. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If the TC48 had not been available, would you have "coughed up" the cash for the TC55? Would you have gone down to the TC45 or bought another brand in the 48 hp range? I understand your reason for buying the TC48, I just don't know if it's wise marketing on NH's part. I guess time will tell. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
