I did go back to retest it saturday morning and this time I managed to get it in H4. Maybe I was letting the engine reving down too much and it wasn't able to catch up. Indeed, it was when I left my foot on the gas pedal, reving the engine around 1500-2000 while shifting that it worked, wheras before I tried to shift it mostly releasing the gas.

Leaning closer and closer from triggering a deal on this one.

I have an 06 DK55C ad have never had any trouble with the use of 4High. I often use it down the roads at the ranch . I also shift it much like a truck 4 speed. These turbo small displacement engines are somewhat sensitive to the rpm range. If you let it drop too much you lose power to some extent. However I have never felt it to be underpowered.

I haven't had any issues running and shifting thru the gears with mine although I do treat it gingerly. 300 he's apron.

I've got an '06' dk55c and I drive it on the road now and again - paved and not. I don't set the throttle when shifting. I start out in high range and use the foot throttle and clutch... like my f150 truck, kind of. It does well this way. Once I get to the speed I want or can handle for the road condition - WEAR YOUR SEATBELT! - then I'll use the throttle control.

Once your tossed into the ceiling once ... you'll not do that again!

I will say it's shifting better now then when new. I've got 400+ hours now.

Good luck!

Phil,

Did you get a price quote on it yet?

The initial quote was 38500$ for cab dk55 and loader (cash price) and 11000 for my trade-in. I shopped a little around and found another place who quoted 35500 cash but was too small a shop to take back my trade-in.

In the meantime, I stopped at a New Holland dealer on the way to get fertilizer and the guy said "Wait, I think I got just what you want". He had a cab TD80D with a new loader, only 260 hours, and the overall condition of the tractor (rust, cleanlyness, hoses, appearence and all) was equivalent or even better than the new ones on the lot. He quoted 36000 for the tractor (72 HP, so stronger and heavier than the DK55, and no sales taxes since it's over 60hp PTO) and offered 14 000 for the trade in. That's a difference of 5500$ (9000$ considering taxes) less bucks for a bigger and real utility class tractor.

When I tried to negotiate, the first kioti one didn't want to budge neither on the 38500 nor the 11000 (he offered 11 436 to round the price, what a joke), even knowing that there was another kioti willing to sell at 35 500 and knowing NH offered 14 000 for my trade in. So I closed on the TD80D and after about 15 hours of work since getting it about a month ago, I'm very pleased with it.

Both gave me the same quote on the attachements though (except the plow):

Walco/agric AFMJ70 tiller 3170$
Walco/Faza F-500 solid Fertiliser spreader : 475$
Used kverneland 3 bottom plow (square beam) : 1800$ (no taxes for 3 bottoms or more... )
Walco 8' chain harrow 460$
Cotech Alo compatible quick attach Pallet forks 1200$

There, it's about all the info I got.
