Temp gauge doesn't move much, so i wanted to test first before testing thermostat. Gauge has 3 wires, red, black, orange. i assume orange goest to sensor? So can I jumper orange connector to a ground and this should move needle? If so, can I jump with orange wire still attached? Thanks

Take picture of temp sensor. At least one of the wires on the gauge may be for light.

Best test is to put sensor in hot water where you know the water temp. Perhaps two different water temps.
