I have had several private messages send to me about the post that was deleted and I thank you for your support.. but I felt there was only two people that had a right to censor that post.. That was the one I send it to.. Brandi or myself.. Hers if she was offensive and if she complained,, I would understand and apologize in a second,, mine if someone felt it was offensive.. I would have deleted it and told Brandi why..
But I will not look over my shoulder and wondering if I said or posted something that would be offensive that can be deleted because someone feels they have the right to decide what is proper or not,, based on whatever they feel at the time. If I had posted a hog,, gutted with a stake thru it head coming out it azz on a pit.. Would that had been okay?.. Sure,,, good old boy roasting a pig.. One of GOD creatures.. But if it's a drawing of a cartoon alien on a stick being roasted,, heff is a crime again what?.. Cartoon characters have more rights than God creatures.. That's what pizzed me out.. I can get paid to come to private channels and write this kind of stuff.. Makes people smile and forget about their health problem for a while,, and I do,, But I did it here because country people make me smile,, we say what we think and feel.. It's good to be country.. Maybe we need country people to monitor country people.. with a sense of humor.. That's all we got when walking back to the barn when the tractor in the field.. I'm sure this will be deleted cause I didn't get someone permission to post.. Lou

Looks like we dodged the proverbial bullet for the most part. Good amount of rain fall around midnight, but temps never got below 33*. Ice on elevated surfaces, but it appears the roads are clear. Looks like we got just under 1/2", but haven't put on enough to walk out and look:laughing:

NWS says Denton just stayed at 31 degrees all night and I just went out and poured about .41" of rain out of my gauge; no ice at all, still getting a very heavy mist; hardly enough to call "rain".

Got to the gauge and emptied another .46, so that is a total of 1.46"...I'll take it:thumbsup: Water dripping from the roof now, 35.4*.

My little fruit trees are leaning on the cages and the 2 pine trees we planted are almost on the ground. Glad it wasn't as predicted possible.

Lou; I'm glad that you are still here! You have a lot more supporters here, than detractors! (Of course, as the saying goes, it only takes one.)

You bring a smile to a lot of us, and make things a little brighter. You also offer help in the other sections of this forum, be it hay, or equipment maintenance/repair. In other words, you are a huge asset to the forum.

Please stick around! And please come to the Texas TBN bash that many of us are hoping for in the Spring!

With this last little shower we are up to an 1" of rain Sunday through Monday morning. The Ice for central Texas did not materialize overnight so people in the Austin area are not doing destruction derby driving this morning.

37˚ This soaking rain will be good for the wildflowers in the spring that are starting to sprout now. I put out 100# of rye grass seed at the spring pond and on the road last week. I'll find out soon if it washed away or if I'll have a velvet green road by Thanksgiving.

Time to feed the deer.

Amen FG. I make a really big batch when I cook Chili and then freeze a couple of Quarts for when I need some in a hurry.

Charlie

I've never had your chili. I'm sure it's great!

I've had a lot of home made chili. I've had a lot of 'home made' chili at events, cafes, VFD dinners, even at Terlingua Chili Cook off, etc.

Wolf brand chili can't be beat because you can open up a can at anytime right at home and it's the same every time and very good. Fast, Cheap, Easy and GOOD! :licking:

I haven't looked at my rain gage because I'd have to walk across an icy deck and play slip-n-slide. It's just enough difference in the northern part of Wise County to be very different from southern Wise County. However, my thermometer says it's 33.3 F and that means the ice probably has an even slicker thin coat of water. At least the trend is warming.

Lou, say it ain't so.

It twernt me.

I've been censored, can't even remember why. Prolly politiks or bad spelling, or not bad enuff spelling of a bad werd. Water under bridge. I figered your bridge to be stronger than most.

We need mo country folk. Stay and have a say I say.

Oh, and crackers with my chili, or fritos for frito pie. I'm on the fence about beans, like chili with them or without.

Prefer cornbread for red beans and rice. I'm with Brandi and the rest on that.

Lou,

I'm glad your going to stick around. If you leave I won't have anybody to drink with when the rest of them are working. Freedom is good, and here in Texas we're kind of partial to it.

I never buy chili with beans.

But I've had some good home made chili which had beans.

I like Chile with or without beans, why do y'all have an aversion to beans? in Chile I mean.

Like Kyle, Chile makes a great Frito "pie", I like to dice fresh onion and shredded cheddar added to the mix.

Thanks, Native!!! Those are neat pics!

Charlie,
Was the USS Hancock the flight deck you were referring too about the wind bothering you?

I like chili with black beans. The dark reddish kidney beans are popular in chili around here too, but we like the little black beans more.

For meat I'll get some beef round or sirloin, and pork loin. About 2/3 beef to 1/3 pork. I trim it very lean and cut it small. It goes in the crock pot raw to make gravy from the meat juices right in the chili while it cooks.

Like Dennis, we have shredded cheddar and chopped onions as chili toppings. Corn bread is not very common around New England. Plain old saltine crackers works for me.

OK....OK....OK...y'all got me! It's chili and cornbread for supper. I know it's not Texas chili with beans --but I like beans....but everybody that has tried my cornbread really likes it. I mill my own wheat and corn for it. I use hard red wheat and popcorn. Makes a whole wheat & popcorn cornbread. Our HEB in Bastrop sells "chili meat" -- coarse ground chuck. add ranch beans with jalapenos, tom sauce, and seasoning; the longer it simmers the better, but it's ready in 15 minutes. Doubt it would win any prizes but we like it.
