I like the way you did that; 鍍ook off all spring and summer, then retired?

Kinda eased into that retirement. :D
:laughing::laughing: It was trial retirement and I liked it. I was off most of April on week to week leave with no pay. Then I was off May, June, July, August and half of Sept., on month to month leave. Paid 22 hours for an 80 hour pay period. Just enough to pay benefits, 401k loan, and a little change.

One coworker my age on day shift, instead of retiring, took 18 month leave and gets paid 44 hours for an 80 hour pay period. When he found out he got approved for the leave, he loaded up his tool box and left. He ain't coming back.

I am also, no longer in a hurry. I retired last month. I was tired of the drive and when Covid 19 hit, I took off all spring and summer, then retired Less stressed too.

Congratulations on Retirement. :cool2:

I've always liked blackeyed peas and of course, the purple hull peas are very good, too. I never forgot my parents talking about living a short time in Baltimore, Maryland when I was a baby. They said they couldn't find blackeyed peas in the grocery store and asked someone who told them the animal feed store would have them. That was the first time I ever heard of them being used to feed to cows. But I see where at least one of the links above mentioned them being using for cattle.

I know nothing about this subject except it reminded me, my Irish grandmother would not eat corn because that's what they feed pigs. I love corn on the cob so, according to granny, I'm eating pig food. Fine with me!

My Dad wouldn't eat cucumbers for that very reason, but with a twist. He said if a pig wouldn't eat a cucumber, he wouldn't either. I have never seen anything that a pig wouldn't eat...I have seen them eat coal!

As for finding Southern comfort foods in Yankee land, my daughter spent several years in Michigan; she said Okra, and raw peanuts for peanut brittle, were impossible to come by.

I guess most of us have some food we don't want for reasons others might think is silly. I remember that my maternal grandmother would not eat a sardine because she once worked briefly in a sardine cannery.

I met a couple who worked in a halibut processing facility in Alaska. They warned us not to eat halibut. So many worms.

I didn't see any worms in any of the halibut I caught up there, but I reckon a few worms couldn't hurt you it you cook it well done.

Ron,
I am so sorry for your loss. I was just informed. I wouldn't have asked the question above had I known.

Thanks for your concerns. I want to come to TX NM and AZ. But it just is not in the cards this year.

Hey Kyle--yes we live 7 miles west of Bastrop and 5 miles from Cedar Creek. And too dang close to Austin! :)
Two Bit--we did the electronic thing and then pressed a button and the machine spit out a printed ballot that we put in a steel box like always. That's why I was wondering if the ballot was (or will be) counted manually or electronically.

Most likely the ballots are scanned and counted electronically. Early voting ballots and mail ballots will be scanned, not counted, earlier. They will be counted and ready to announce at about 7pm November 3. That must be the ES&S equipment your county is using.

I guess that is what it is, we voted on the old paper ballots in the last primary election back in April.

So, the printed ballot we placed in the box is just a back-up to the electronic canvas?
