Charlie, what is you're aversion to Starbucks? As far as "country clubs", I suppose it could be nice, but I think those are similar to an HOA, reserved for people that have money to give away:laughing:

Lou, I like to golf, (if that's what you call how I play) , But I think them little balls are gunna play havoc next time you bale!! I would seell "that" hay, as a new "White pellet" developed by Texas A&M for ""RANGE" cattle:shocked:

I have to till this field under come spring,, so I will be planting golf balls,, a hundred years from now some college kid will say Lou Starbuck was ahead of his time,:shocked:, he tried to grow golf balls,, I wonder if he had any success?.. See how legend are made?.:laughing:. Lou

I've never been in a Starbucks, and probably never will be, but when I had my right knee replaced, the hospital was supposedly serving Starbucks coffee. It was OK, but sure not anything special.

Charlie, before we bought our current home, we looked at two new homes, either of which, we'd have bought in a minute, except that they had those Homeowners Associations. That definitely made me walk away from those houses.

25 years ago I moved close enough to a 'big city' that I encountered HOA's when looking at houses. Being a Houstonian by birth I was therefore predisposed against too much regulation in the form of zoning. But having lived my adult life in a small town/rural area I was not very accustomed to the HOA concept. I must have given the salesman a pretty strange look when he started explaining the concept. We feel grateful to live in the great State of Texas where one still has some freedom of choice left.

When I am outside Texas for even a day or so I feel extremely fortunate when I return.

I was thinking about going into business,, I have this one place that has a nice view of trees and small bayou that flow to the Gulf of Mexico thru Christmas Bay,, I will have to take down some 300 year old live oaks, ,but that progress and money.. it will be right between the 9 and 10 holes of Lou's driving range and 19 holes golf course,, the 19th hole being the watering hole,, I will call it Lou Starbuck,, What y’all think?..Lou Starbuck jew'all want some cream with that?.. :laughing:

Lou the name will have to be changed or you will have to pay a franchise fee. Instead of star use moon and instead of buck use doe and add your name for that personal touch and of course a byline. Maybe a little scotch in the coffee instead of that unhealthy coffee creamer.

Amen, two-bit-score. We Texans have a long history of being an independent lot. And some of you are even a little hard headed, but I wouldn't live anywhere else.

Got the baler cleaned up and put up in the barn,, Took five round bales,, newly cut out to the pasture.. Then the wind shifted out of the north with a little cold rain.. going to snow tonight.. so I got my snowman cookie cutters out in case,, nothing like fresh snowman cookie made with real snow.. May enjoy one more bottle of that free Jim Beam,, Its the good stuff.. got about twenty sticks of live oak, de-bark, off the bbq pit trailer,, son trailer and his wood also,, in case we get snowed in here on the gulf coast,, maybe I will mix the snowman cookie with the free whiskey and stay warm with the free wood,, maybe I will throw a brisket on the fire place.:confused3:. .. lots of options when it snows.:dance1:. The most out of place Starbucks coffee shop I've ever seen is in the Dallas VA Hospital. They sure didn't put it there to service disabled and low-income veterans whose disposable income doesn't match their price list. They do sell regular coffee there in addition to all the latte frou-frou calorie infused dessert coffees. It's the staff doctors and nurses you always see with those high-dollar cups of designer coffees. I guess the staff deserves some special treatment too, but the first time I saw it, I was a bit turned off by what seemed to me to be an in-your-face impracticality. I bought a cup of regular there (back in 2005, I believe), and it was $1.65. It was good, but I found myself yearning for a nice cup of 7-11 or McDonalds coffee.

Personally, if Starbucks sold their coffee in plain cups, I think the business would implode. Like designer handbags and shoes, the label on the product is its value for appearances only in my opinion.
